You haven't???!!! Really? OMG .... what a community! This is the end, I guess. *LOL*

You should make in available in extras. Nobody will know how to use it, but just for the fun of it.

Re: Did you knew about this? LOL

Ok, I have the source code as well as a binary compiled for linux (arm and i386). There is also a simple "hello, world!" program and a URL link to a game called Lost Kingdoms which you can download and play.

Will need to read up how to package a .deb file and how to put that into the extras-testing repo.

The URL to the tar.gz file is http://www.renegade-uiq.com/maemo5/b...**-1.01.tar.gz

To install directly to your phone, go to terminal on your N900:

$ sudo gainroot
# wget -c http://www.renegade-uiq.com/maemo5/b...**-1.01.tar.gz
# tar -zxvf brain****-1.01.tar.gz
# cp brain****/bin/linux-arm/bf /usr/bin/

This copies the bf (brain**** runtime interpreter) to /usr/bin/ so that you can run bf from any location.

To test a brain**** program, go:

# cd brain****/bf
# bf hello.bf

You can also download tons of small cute brain**** program simply by googling for it. I strongly suggest Lost Kingdom... cool game... source code is 2MB+ in size.

Now, I need to find out where I can create a deb packager for Ubuntu...

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to post them here and if it's urgent (really?) ajack2001my@yahoo.com

Opps... looks like the forums censor words and when you see "****" it's supposed to be a really bad word.

i had to build a new computer for a friend of mine during the weekend (exciting... when was the last time i went shopping for CPUs, RAM, DVD-burners, motherboards... install ubuntu... and have it work right from the start?), so i didn't follow this thread.

seems like fun! need to try it when i'm home! ;)

1 Attachment(s)
hehe ... works. i downloaded the tarball here at the office to my PC, extracted the bf-binary only and copied it over to the N900.

i was surprised btw to see that the application itself is written in pascal. i wonder if the autobuilder for the extras repository can handle this. does anybody know?

Re: Did you knew about this? LOL

Try Lost Kingdom... you'll be amazed what bf can do... :)

benny1967 2010-11-08 13:59

Re: Did you knew about this? LOL

i found a bf file "lost kingdom", but it seems to have issues with line breaks or something... don't know how to describe it ... sometimes the last character of a word is at a new line and then this one character will be repeated 3 times, each time starting a new line with this 1 char only.

doesn't look too good and makes reading awful.

do you have aworking dl-link you can recommend?

The Lost Kingdom
(C) Jon Ripley 2004, 2005
Brain**** Edition v0.11

Lost Kingdom is a conversion into Brain**** of my game 'Lost Kingdom'
which won the First Annual Classic 2k Text Adventure Competition in 2004.
The original game was written in highly optimised BBC BASIC and was only
2.74Kb in size; this Brain**** edition is significantly larger at 2.08Mb.

The original game was available for RISC OS, Windows and Acorn 8-bit
computers. This Brain**** edition should run on any computer with a
suitable Brain**** interpreter or compiler.

I have tried to make this conversion into Brain**** as true as possible to
the original in game play. The solution to this Brain**** version is
slightly different than the original. The room descriptions and some of the
messages have been changed, and a few new features have been added, as I am
no longer working within a 2.8Kb size limit.

Two game modes are available with short or long room descriptions. The short
room description game is most similiar to the original game. The long room
description version has been specially enhanced and is in essence a seperate
game. The solutions are different between the two versions.

This game is probably the first piece of true interactive fiction that has
ever been written in Brain****. This game is probably the largest program ever
written in Brain****.

In order to play Lost Kingdom you will need a Brain**** interpreter, the
source code for a highly portable optimising interpreter is included in the
bftools directory. The interpreter 'bf' has been confirmed to work on RISC OS,
Windows, DOS, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS X. It should work on most systems. You
will need a C compiler to compile the interpreter.

I strongly recommend that you use the interpreter provided, otherwise your
gameplay experience may not match the performance possible.

A Windows version of the interpreter has been provided called 'bf.exe', if you
are using Windows you can run the game by double-clicking on 'LostKng.exe' -
the one with the googly eyes.

Full documentation is included within the game and includes the back-story and
information on how to play.

The parser is somewhat limited but very functional. A better parser may be
implemented in the distant future, perhaps in a future project, this was not
planned for the first release as coding a decent parser in Brain**** is
non-trivial.

If you write a review of this game I would appreciate it very much if you
would send me a copy, and with your permission I will include it on my web
site. All comments, suggestions and constructive criticism are welcome.

I'd love to hear from anybody and everybody who has played this game.
