N900 Is great for the ones who use a lot of chatting and messaging
don't u think we need whatsapp or nimbuzz on it ?
any talking about this ? official news ?
any one trying to developp or port this to n900 ?

Whatsapp is not planned for teh N900, last time I checked.

But why do you need it? There's msn, skype, google talk...

Why I need it ? to chat with blackberry and iphone contacts all of them and lots use whatsapp !

whatsapp is under consideration in 2011.. ive mailed the whatsapp devs for it.. and there is some one trying to port blackberry messenger.. ( whatsapp ) or Pingchat

so it is under consideration in 2011 but dont expect too much off it.. and wait for 1 off the developers here at the community take action and create a port of whatsapp for example..

i know that it is a closed app.. but there was a dev @ this forum.. who tried contact the devs off whatsapp for the code, so that he could port the app

so my answerr.. there is no app like whatsapp yet ;) be patient.. and time will tell..

the pidgin and builtin is still kinda expensive :-/

free/cheap as in consumes less 3g data transfer
maemo is an open source.. almost everything is free

whatsapp runs in background and you don't need to sign in. There's no way to exit; you have to kill the process.

A message sent to you while you have no internet connection will wait to be sent to you again when you are online, pretty much like other instant messenger programs.

What's quite different from other im programs is that whatsapp identifies users by their phone numbers, not a username. After your friend in your phone book install and run whatsapp and you refresh your contact list in whatsapp, his/her name will automatically be present; no need to add friend by username or email address.

It is some what like the concept of enum (e164) where one identity (phone number) is used for every mode of communication, i.e. mobile phone, home phone, sip etc.

i would love to have whatsapp on my n900
i cant chat with anyone using pidgin or the normal msn in my N900
because i cant see the people online
when ever i open my contact list i get internal error
i was hoping for that problem to be fixed in pr1.3 but no success
i dont know if there is a work around concerning the matter, if so then i would really appreciate a link to it

i want the whatsapp cause i see that it is very cool :),,and many of my friends are using it and it so easy to be in contact with my friends all the time :),,

what you said (y) and i really dont wanna get a blackberry or iphone only just to use whatsapp or pin, that will cost me at least 18 euros a month extra while my n900 contract is still running for a whole year.. it would be a waste of my money.

Hopefully whatsapp comes sooooon !
