Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
I just updated Enhanced Linux kernel for power users to 2.6.28maemo42 from 2.6.28maemo40. And i can confirm it works great on PR1.3. Over clocking is back and it too is seamless.

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
Ooh, does this have all the PR1.3 patches? Also, any idea if fcam or hostmode is included or will work with this kernel?
|
Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
can you give please explain how to over clock it? in addition to just installing the software

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
just upgraded and was greeted with a kernel panic (went from v40 to v42). must be something to do with multiboot as stock kernel loads up fine?
i guess i'll follow this: Quote:

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
how to do this??
*EDIT* Nevermind. Downloaded the new v42 deb, extracted the fiasco image, extracted the kernel, copied to N900, setup a new multiboot item. Reboot, looks like I'm up and running on v42 kernel. |
Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
Is this working with uboot?

yes, fcamera is installed here... guessing they're conflicting again? i doubt it though, because titan is aware of the fcam-drivers package issue. |

Confirmation of camera problems over at the overclocking thread.

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
I just updated the enhanced kernel as suggested in the auto update notification. Everything seems ok after that, but I find every app using the camera doesn't work. I reverted the kernel using deinstall kernel app and everything back to normal (the camera works again). Does anyone have the same experience? I'm on PR1.3 already. The prev installed enhanced power kernel worked fine before the update.

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
Hmm think I stay with the MohammedAG Hostmode modified v40 untill Fcam and Hostmode are fully supported from Mr Titan himself.
Looking forward for that thou. |
Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
how to get camera/vid work back?
|
Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
any idea how to get the v40 installed back until I wait for a fix for this?

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
I Have of course same issue with camera after update.
Tried removing the BlessN900 app. and the fcam drivers like titan suggested (and rebooted). But now the default camera app. just blurs a few pixels around the program launch button and then freeze the entire device. Thinking about going back to stock Pr1.3 now because it feels like its better to wait a while until things have matured a little. Now just hope the uninstaller for power kernel works as it should (before pr1.3 it failed on me). Edit: I'm curious if there's a way to let aptitude point out a specific version when installing. I wouldn't be surprised if that works somehow, just gotta know the right switches I guess. Edit2: Never mind! After second reboot it seems like the default camera application works again. I understand nothing what's going on, but I'm happy anyway! Now all I have to wait for is the fcam driver to be upgraded and the usb host mode (beta) to become integrated with titans mighty kernel. |

The last seems to be the best option, but I haven't managed to install them yet. Edit: that indeed solved the problem, you need to install using dpkg -i (see the same thread) |
Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
The FM radio app: Just checking, is anyone else have intermittent crashes with this using the power kernel? I mean, not only the application but full device crashes (reboots). It usually seems to happen during tuning between stations, even if clocking has moved back to default.

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
Got a missing kernel files or something even though I copied the file on /boot to /boot/multiboot. Any ideas?

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
@maartenmk My Fcam still does not work.
Edit:Works now after this. Code:
sudo gainroot |
Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
Well, I'm on "power37" kernel version.
I would want to upgrade to the latest version 41 but I'm affraid to do that because the cam problems. I'm using blessn900. I do want to wait to another upgrade without these problems??? Thanks in advance. |

so it is possible to use uboot with a modified kernel:D so guys lets start installing meego.. yaay ! |
Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released
This is INDEED good news! All the tasty goodies in one single candy bag.
I got the tux at boot so now I know I got uboot. Right, so I'll just have to try out the meego codedrop release in some of the threads here, (wherever that was). If I understand the 43 release right (which now is 44) it seems like I also have the usbhost support. Guess all I need is the frontend application for that now, right? Thanks Titan! |

Psycho: See the changelog at the garage page.
debernardis: Did you just install the frontend application to get the usb host working with this kernel or do I need to do anything else? (Haven't started yet, just curious). |
