Does anyone know how to unistall .deb files.????
 

I have installed .deb games and i want to unistall them.!!! does anyone know how to do it ??? do you use x-term?? what do you write??

dpkg -r (the games name)
Remember that the name is case sensitive!

do you follow the same path where you have saved it as when you do the install??? and you just type dpkg -r (the name ).deb and hit enter...???? it says that i have to write exactly the name of all the files i want to unistall..

It doesn't matter what folder your in, you have to write the games name (for example, if the game is called Abcd, you write dpkg -r Abcd), not the name of the games installation file.

i did it and it says dpkg - warning: ignoring request to remove assassins which isn't installed...

You could take ten seconds and investigate.

You could use wildcards like * to get more files with one shot, some of which might be the wrong files.

Then the game isn't probably called assassins, try typing dpkg -l and try to find the games name from the list.

you can get list of all installed programs/games doing so:
if it's to long you can write the output to file:
you can open it with find the game name and then dpkg -r and the exact name

and it doesn't do anything...

Type just "dpkg -l" and it shows all the installed applications in a list and their correct names you can use with dpkg -r.

Read mveplus' post again - carefully. You do not add the game's name to the 'dpkg -l' command. That's the command to get a list of everything installed.

can it be shown in my menu and not be shown on that list???
it isn't shown and i can't understand why...i searched all the results and there isn't any name of a file that could be it...

Are you certain the game actually installed sucessfully? Does it run or have an icon in your apps, something that shows it really installed?

why don't you just use application manager to uninstall any unwanted game or application ?

thanks a lot!!!! i reboot my phone and now i opened the x-term and the game is shown in that list... i' m doing the unistall right now and it seems to be alright until now... thanks a lot!!!

Because they are not shown on the list .. but with the x-term it is alright..:):)
