i think you need to reflash your rootfs.

http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware --> this link may help you for reflashing rootfs

Re: HELP my phone will not boot after uninstalling kernel power

I had the same problem. I guess that one should use the shortcut in the applications menu in order to properly uninstall the custom kernel, and not the app manager. Anyway, you simply need to reflash your phone. There is no need to reflash the eMMc though, just the firmware.

Re: HELP my phone will not boot after uninstalling kernel power

I also have the same problem. Now i'm on this site: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware

But how do I do so that the MyDocs data NOT is being deleted? I got some notes in there, and if they is being deleted i will cry from now and to christmas 2020!

You guys talked about a reflash on the phone. Shall I just use the Software Updater in Windows?

I normally use Linux on my computer, so I can also use the terminal.

Thank you!

You won't loose any data if you just reflash ur OS a.k.a. rootfs another a.k.a. firmware also known as FW and referred to fiasco :p you will need windows preferably XP:
A)
1. Go to http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900
2. There are clear instructions on how to find and enter your imei
3. Throw the EULA in a trash can and click I agree
4. Download RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_003_ARM (this or the one specifying your region)
5. Download Maemo flasher 3.5
6. Install Maemo flasher
7. Copy RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_003_ARM (this or the one specifying your region) to Maemo flasher's directory (e.g. C:/program files/maemo)
B)
1. Open maemo flasher from start ----> all programs ----> maemo
2. Type: flasher-3.5 -F <FIASCO image> -f (RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_003_ARM in this case)
3. Hit enter then plug in your usb cable to the computer then while off open ur N900's keyboard and press u and keep holding it
4. after some seconds a cmd window will pop out showing flashing status probably for 5 mins
$. After it finishes close everything and disconnect usb
p.s. why don't they just provide a one name instead of several a.k.a's

as for your first query visit the wiki for linux as i'm not experienced in linux that much

Re: HELP my phone will not boot after uninstalling kernel power

mbs here u go
1.download the .deb version of the Flasher, install it with:
sudo dpkg -i <flasher-package-name>
If you are using 64-bit Linux, you'll need to force installation as follows:
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture <flasher-package-name>
2. Type this: sudo flasher-3.5 -F <firmware-image> -f -R
3. It will say Suitable USB device not found, waiting•N900: While holding the u key, connect the N900 to your computer via USB. Wait until you see a dim screen on your N900 with a Nokia logo in the middle of your screen with an USB icon in the top right corner.
Hope this helps

Thank you! I'm using Ubuntu and it is a 32 bit version.

Also that function will do it, without deleting any data?

Yep that is, nothing will get erased cuz you're only flashing the system (fiasco), things will get erased if you flash the system and the 32gigs flash memory a.k.a emmc :p should you require any further assisstance post below ;)

Okay. Now i've downloaded the maemo_flasher-3.5_2.5.2.2_i386.deb and also installed it.

I'm stuck with option 1 ("sudo dpkg -i <flasher-package-name>") i'm about to download the image file on http://tabletsdev.maemo.org/nokia_N900/ - as you can see the page is down :(

Isn't that what you mean or is it me thats totally wrong? I have installed the package (Flasher.deb) with application manager so i can skip that option. Right?

then i can go to option 2, right :)?

Re: HELP my phone will not boot after uninstalling kernel power

Yes! Thank you very much. Now its working. All my programs are lost, but thats nothing compared to that sweat i suddenly got on my forehead when i thought that all my data was gone. I love the Nokia N900 for it's "openness". I also love Linux as the same choice :-)

Good weekend all!
