no more memory for installing aps

Hello,

After reading several topics about this problem, I'm still pretty clueless on what to do. I removed several aps already but it seems like it didn't do ****. I only have 68/2000mb left...

It seems like flashing seems an option however if possible I would like it to use it as last resort.

Could you guys help me out? Like some nifty x-term commands ?

tnx!

Do you have any preenv games installed? They take a lot of your memory in /home

yes, only one though. How many does one normally take?

That depends on the game, some are around 30-40mb whilst Driver is a good 200mb IIRC.

Try installing storage usage. With this app you can see wich files take the most of your memory.

Re: no more memory for installing aps

I will if it lets me...

Edit:

Alright!
It claims that 1,4gb is taken in total. But in the first diagram it shows that I only have 72 mb remaining..

The math isn't right here...

maemo and wesnoth seem to be the biggest files (308 and 226mb)
where is the preev games located? I cannot find it.

Re: no more memory for installing aps

The first diagram is your rootfs. 72MB is quite normal for this. The second one is your /home partitition. This is the place were your applictions are installed. If this one is full, you can't install any more applications.

Why do you think you haven't enough memory for installing applications? Do you get an error message or something?

the 72mb one is the home partition. i know its also full since I'm getting mesages when even trying to update my apps.. well I'm of to work. hope in the meantime ik get some usefull info. other wise i try to udinstall kroll and see if it creates more space...

Re: no more memory for installing aps

Please start X-Terminal and show the output of
Code:

df
so that people see what you do see.
Also try to find your largest directories with
Code:

du -H /home | sort -n
Ignore directories in MyDocs, they are on a different partition.

Re: no more memory for installing aps

I had the same problem, but solved it with expanding the /home, because i didnt want to uninstall some games or so.
With 6GB in /home life is easier, but the little space some progs use in /root still sucks my free /root space to 27MB...(and thats with using the moveroot.sh)
BTW: Over 3GB apps installed and happy with decreasing the fat :)

So far
