if overclocking is good for battery with faster performance then why some didnt do it yet?

Re: Are people still overclocking?

i used qcpufreq app to oc. it was quite smooth and no panic :)

Re: Are people still overclocking?

yep both Maemo & Nitdroid @ 1.15 :D
i will never go back to default, it's feel too slow

Re: Are people still overclocking?

mine (spare one) normally @805 starving due to some crashes @850 starving - it needs lv to work well. Lv goes up to 1100 without problem when a little boost is needed - QBW for fast OC changes on the fly. And yes, it i true than anything over 1000 feels smooth and make go back to original a (small) pain. From PR1.3 afterwards I am really happy with my N900.

Because it voids your waranty, personaly it doesn't bother me but i guess not everyone likes to live on the bleeding edge:D

I've been more than satisfied with the speed increase I have recieved from upgrading to pr1.3.

I only OC when gaming and even then I never go over 850mhz

Does it?

Is there a quote from Nokia stating that?

Is it legal to void warranty for this reason where you live?

Do you know of one person who had warranty fix refused due to overclocking? I did not see a report on this forum yet.

Re: Are people still overclocking?

Most people are saying they went BACK to default. Doesn't that mean you switched kernels previously which means your warranty would've been void?

Exactly.

I run @ 1ghz Starving. Goes to max 42 Degrees Celsius. Even in a hot room.

It only voids your waranty if the repair's place see you have overclocked. I have power kernel and oc'd to 1Ghz but trying to do maemo's update to pr1.3 screwed up my phone and it wouldn't turn on. took it back and got it fixed uder the waranty no problems :)
I guess if it won't turn on then what they can't see won't hurt ay?

900MHz with lehto since day one...now at 1000MHz with power 45...not a single problem....well....sometimes the web browser crashes but other than that its great.

Re: Are people still overclocking?

If the phone breaks up because of overclocking, probably they won't fix it (if they found that you overclocked it). If something else stopped working, but NOT overclocking's fault, i guess they still repair.
Not sure anyways.

Well, either the Overclocking docs are lying or the warranty is voided -- which do you think?

I seem to recall Peter of Nokia making such a statement. It might be mentioned in one of the first 500 or so messages in the Overclocking thread.

In fact, despite claims to the contrary, I don't think Nokia can prove whether or not an N900 has been overclocked.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but today, Peter@Maemo and Tekojo (both Nokia employees) have reiterated the official stance: Do not overclock the N900, it is a bad idea and it will void the warranty.

i use stock settings
right now, the usb port broke *like my old 5800, i can bet nokia does this on purpose*
so i need to transfer my battery in n95 to charge *LOL!*
so yea
im on using stock settings but 500min,600max

It's funny -- I was just looking at the original Overclocking thread. Posts to it have decreased dramatically. That's because Overclocking is no longer very controversial. Many, many people do it, and almost no one has claimed to have suffered as a result.

Re: Are people still overclocking?

I would overclock to 1150, which is stable for me on titan's ulv, but the battery is murdered when I do that. Now I clock 600 to 850 on ulv. Runs well.

ideal is the best for battery instead of ulv
500-950... this uses a tiny bit less voltage then 250-600

On most of the phones I know a way how to prove it.

Re: Are people still overclocking?

As long as N900 is my everyday phone I dont tinker with overcloking/Nitdroid etc with it too much ,
I tired overclocking but its not that fast what N900 really lacks is RAM. When N9 is released I will most likely do some crazy things on my N900 but not now, I depend on it :P

Re: Are people still overclocking?

kernel-power is useful even without overclocking, as you can enable lower voltage-settings and it will save battery and device life by wearing them slower.
