{ANNOUNCE} SPB TV 1.0 is out in ovi store
 
hi all,
thought some of you would be interested to know that ovi store has a new free app available for download called spb tv - its a decent app with a decent ui that has access to around 160 streaming tv channels from around the world!!!

Not for the N900. Shame. The N8 has some cool apps though...

Yep same here, working great!

Not sure how many english speaking channels their are though. I was browsing through the very pretty menu and it it very fluid, even when playing the video behind the scrolling channel listtings.

can someone please give me a .install file for this app (posted as a .txt file here ) this would be very appriciated because ovi store says that this app isn't avaible for my country and yes i used to stream vids from this app just fine in the early beta release .
again very appriciated for a .install file :) .

to be honest i forgot, its been a while since i've made one, you creat a .txt on a desktop computer type the app installing commands (links to ovi store and package name....) and than you rename it to xxx.install and transfer it to your n900 and install the app.

hmm sounds a little bit complicated.
shouldn't it be possible to get somewhere the deb file and upload it for you?

ok i found a older .deb file for spb.if you install it and update it via HAM it should work.

I click the link from Ovi, start app man, eventually get error: -
unable to download 'spb-tv'
application package not found

has it been removed?

Just downloaded it within the last 15 minutes, video plays great, good channel selection, ad supported - but unfortunately I get no sound!

UPDATE - after restarting the app several times I now get sound.

If you install MohammadAG's modified apt deb (he just recompiled it without the option to block installs from the Ovi store repo), you can install the free apps from the app store using apt-get on the command line, for this one it would be "apt-get install spb-tv".

There's an old posting (I think the 3drollercoaster thread) in which MohammedAG has created a version of apt that ignores the hidden flag in the ovi repo which will allow you to install via apt-get ; eg:

A lot easier than fiddling around with the Ovi web interface. Anyway, I've attached the most recent deb - so all you need to do is install with dpkg or use the Application Manager.
