n900 automatic clock wrong
hi i am just wondering if anyone knows why my clock is 5 minutes too fast when it is set to automatic. if i take automatic off i can set it differently but as soon as i put it back on it jumps 5 minutes in front. just wanted to know if other people have this problem. on the upside im never late for anything :) if only nokia's clocks were set like this we might have flash 10 by now! :D

Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
Automatic syncs with your cell provider's tower time (usually) so that would indicate that the local tower's time is what is off.

Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
same here. my main phone (same provider) doesn't have this issue.

Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
likewise, i have another phone on the same provider with auto-update of the time. and n900 is a few minutes ahead always...weird...

Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
I had the same problem, my clock was always about 2mins ahead.
So I downloaded OpenNTPD, works perfectly. |
Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
Maybe our N900's just want us to be on time?

Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
Same problem: 5 minutes to fast when setted on automatic, so this is a problem of our device.

Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
I don't think it's a problem with the N900.
I have my N900 set to automatic, & it's within seconds of several time servers here at work. |

Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
I have a similar problem. At first I had automatic clock updates turned on; the clock set itself 2 minutes ahead after a certain while, then 4 minutes ahead,.. I have another phone set to update teh clock automatically, the same provider, but never any issues with time.
I disabled automatic update of the clock and set it manually. It was okay for a while, but today it was again 2 minutes off. Must be a problem within the device. |
Re: n900 automatic clock wrong
just install OpenNTPD and you will have an accurate clock. Remember that OpenNTPD needs internet access to work properly, so also check your dataplan with your mobile provider.
