Work in Progress: Reflect

There are many good glossy black themes available for Fremantle (Back Plastic, Marina). However I don't personally like one aspect of them, the buttons. I tried to make them solid and visible. I also preserved the interface with Maemo 5 guidelines (task switcher icon, etc.) So, I'll present my new re-imagination of my older Reflect theme (from back '09!), codenamed Reflect Redux:

Available now in devel under package reflect-theme.

Please note that the clock is Advanced Clock Plugin with a custom font and not included in the theme.

Ironically, i've kept with Marina theme for the opposite reason: It was the only one with dark buttons.

Anyways, your theme seems to look pretty nice :) Keep it up.

amazing theme, thanks for the great work!

but imo it will look even better if you change the wallpaper

Well, it's overall more polished and has new button design.

way the go joppu!

if its possible, can the shorcuts square backgroud be a bit smaller than the nokia n-series theme?

Thanks....

EDIT: i believe there's an app that can do that

joppu 2010-12-31 12:32

Re: Work in Progress: Reflect

I just noticed they are a bit larger when compared to stock nseries, I'll fix that right up on the next build.

Great to see you working on this wonderful theme! which was my 1st and still use from time to time. I love the what you have done in this remake.

just a thought on my part! Any chance of some colour on the dial pad?. That really would set this theme apart from the rest..... All the themes just look the same when it comes to the dail pad, well imo! .

Please don't get me wrong! You guys do some wonderful stuff and in your free time. Thanks for that.

Kind regards Qosmio

Looks very polished indeed. It's been a long time since a good new theme appeared.

However, a personal preference - I'd prefer some color other than the blue-purple which is currently there in button/applet pressed images.

Install Theme Customizer - it allows you to choose the size of shortcuts and bookmarks.

The older version had really dark and purplish shades of blue, current color scheme is rather light compared to that.

I just think that the purplish tinge spoils the beauty of this theme. Probably a clean blue would be better.

Uh, could you point me to some hexadecimal values or something?

Being a noob and non-techie, I wouldn't know that myself. I just sat all morning and converted the colors of various images to a bluer shade, using MS Office Picture Manager. The values I gave to the three parameters in purple images were as follows:

1) Amount : 65
2) Hue : -180
3) Saturation: 0 (unchanged)

Though not perfect, I like the new theme colors. Screenshots are attached below. If you like it, please guide me how to get the hexadec values and I'll post them here.

One help that I need is how to change the color of highlight and painted text in virtual keyboard. That still remains purple.

Care to upload those images to real host like imgur, tinypic, etc. since t.m.o totally rapes the quality and resolution. I can pick the colors myself after I get the full-size images.

I'll do that sometime tonight. My shade rather looks like black plastic I think. But you can choose whatever you like...

Re: Work in Progress: Reflect

Great theme joppu! I really enjoy the current purplish blue look! The blue magenta shade that navsin is suggesting is too stardard or common with other themes imo.

The only odd spot I've noticed is in the microb browser lower status bar near the top left corner of the address bar. Other than that, just perfect theme!

Yeah, it's a limitation which I can't really do anything about.

Hi joppu,

I have uploaded two screenshots. I agree with m2k that the color variant looks more like other themes. However, the purplish blue is kinda kiddish for me... (maybe cos of my age ;) )

I also tried a dark maroon / brown shade and that looks good too. In any case, it's your theme... your choice :)

And so...?

Thanks for the rating, I guess.

By the way, updated a version with lighter colors.

Can someone please post some screenshots of the updated version?

no, the screenshot utility refuses to capture it... it became FUGLY overnight :(

ye god, what have you done to this nice theme, PLEASE give the old one back, this update is F*CKING UGLY (and I'm being nice and friendly in my expression).

For one, my calendar plugin now has a blue color, the desktop icons became oversized, and many other small tweaks annoy the hell out of me.

Uninstalled it now, until somebody can give me back the old one....

joppu 2011-01-04 12:24

Re: Work in Progress: Reflect

It's the older version, that I first tried to update, but it seemed to fail. So I created another package for the newer one. Looks like it worked anyway.

I updated the older package with the newest version still.

Moral of the story: don't install software out of devel.

got that, yeah...

Right now, no theme seems to install properly(*), so it looks like I'll be spending the evening recovering from whatever went wrong with your update or removing it :(

(*) app manager says it is installed, but it shows up nowhere and doesn't alter the appearance.

joppu 2011-01-04 13:07

Re: Work in Progress: Reflect

Just wait until it updates itself. That problem should only affect Reflect itself.

joppu 2011-01-14 16:39

Re: Work in Progress: Reflect

Migrated packages "reflect" and "reflect-test" to "reflect-theme" so please update accordingly.

@joppu your theme is the best for N900. Keep up the good work.

@bilalgondal this is awoken-icon-theme for Theme Customizer. Note that the 'internet' icon has been changed since.
