Lehto's kernels, Gone?
Hey community,
First of all, I'm a girl, : pleasedon'tkillme :, and I'm not pretty sure girls are welcomed in here... Anywayz, I bought an N900, right now at this single moment (actually 1.5 hours ago), and I'm freaking happy with it :). I went directly to OC'ing it, but apparently, the kernel that I want (ULV 1000 MHz) and all Lehto's kernels are, gone :(. I know that Kernel-Power is great and stuff like that, but I prefer the old style of flashing. So anyone who's got ahold of these files will be greatly thanked for sharing them :). |
Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
First welcome, second what's a 'girl'? lol we see so few round here (very testosterony)
anyway I think lehto's kernels were for p.r 1.1 only(some one will correct me if I'm wrong.) why do you want to flash lehto's kernel instead of installing the power kernel? |
Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
First off, welcome.
Second, you do know though that you can install kernel-power along with kernel power settings and use an ULV profile with 1000MHz clock speed right? |
Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
@Tiboric, @cincibluer6
I want to flash Lehto's kernels since I so not have to cstomise them! Installing Kernel-Power will force me to create dozens of profiles and an endless headache. Using Lehto's kernels, I can reflash my device and continue using it once and for all :) p.s. A girl is the opposite gender, google it I'm sure you will find something :D |
Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
Hi, and welcome to the forums!
I have used the community kernel and the app QCPUFreq. Here you can read a tutorial: http://thehandheldblog.com/2010/07/2...r-two-minutes/ Just skip the difficult terminal part, if it's not your thing and install the mentioned QCPUFreq app (like the tutorial also suggest at the end.) edit: I *really* should reload the page before posting^^. But anyway: QCPUFreq will do everything without headache. ;) |

Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
google gave me some graphic examples thank you. lol
Power-kernel gives you alot more customising options but you can just use the ones in the repo's (kernel-power-settings) without much to think about. or just use the QCPUfreq app that zehjokah suggested to set the frequency to 1000mhz also not all n900 will take ULV settings(I have one that does and one that doesn't) |

Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
Have you checked the wiki?
http://wiki.maemo.org/Overclocking (I guess you do) Why would you like to have Letho's kernell instead of Titan's? I don't know if Lwhto's kernel is compatible with PR1.3, and you may want to have this in order to run some new programs and fixed bugs... AND, in fact, almost any "Interesting" hardware related stuff in N900 is taking in account Titan's, as Fcam drivers, USB hostmode, Multiboot, etc... And you choose your Clock/Voltage settings manually, but the values you choose depend more on your very specific N900 than your wish, if you undervolt too much you'll have less stability at higher frecuencies, so you have to test your device's capabilities. Have you also read http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power ? I tell you this just as a suggestion. I don't know if you have to keep with PR1.1 if you use Lehto's kernell, but you could loose some of N900 potential, I think... Why would you prefer the "old style of flashing"? (using USB and flasher I guess) N900 also includes flasher, so its indeed not so very different... Anyway, if you still want Lehto's Kernell you have to wait for a user who's got it to share it with you... Welcome, by the way! Edit: WT#... I took too much writing this... Anyway, you should give Titan's a try, its not hard to customize, you don't have to edit so many files, there are easy ways to customize, and if you don't want to have to set many options, there are profiles already which allow you to OK with just 2 or 3 commands... That's what I used to have stock voltages + 500-900 Mhz (ideal profile didn't worked for me, I could't take videos with Undervolting)... At ULV you may have issues like this... |

easiest thing is to install kernel power from app manager... restart phone open up terminal sudo gainroot kernel-config load ulv kernel-config limits 250 1000 kernel-config save myideal kernel-config default myideal this will take you maximum of 5 min? and reflashing the phone will take like 10min (maybe more for a newbie) and you will have to install everything again...? |

the myideal to set conservative governor plus adding smartreflex and setting avoid frequencies in ./cpu0/cpu/ondemand/avoid_frquencies and adding h-e-n using kernel-power plus installing modules for Oc'ing after installing Nitdroid shall take 10 mins. Gosh I'm a girl but not a newbie! Anyways someone must still have got them right? |
Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
ok i've found the kernels. But the maximum which i've found is 125-900mhz or 125 – 930mhz , 500mhz DSP (stock 430mhz DSP)
let me know which one you want, and i will send you the link :D |
Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
OFFTOPIC: I was a spectator of marmo.org since the N900 was first released, and I should say I'm heavily impressed the way this thing is moving on.

Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
wow I've been looking for 20mins on google etc. where you find them?

nice to know that there are female N900 users :) |

i dont know why anyone would want lehtos kernel over titans.. i would think that would be a one way ticket to dependency hell since it is no longer maintained

Re: Lehto's kernels, Gone?
If you're consider getting anything going with the packet injection drivers for WLAN you will want to reconsider and get more familiar with Titan's because the module binaries are compiled against that kernel but source is available so you can do as you wish provided you have all the pieces needed to compile for your chosen kernel. Instead of profiles for OCing and such I use beecon and made the widget as described in this thread.
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...erclock+widget Just a suggestion, but half the time I have xterm open and just execute a script that kills some unnecessary PIDS and sets me at 1150 clock speed, have fun with your new toy and welcome to TMO |
