hello all,

i hope evryone is okay.

i am looking for an easy way for a person who is not too linux savy/ programming savy to overclock the n900.

i have never done so and i am looking to increase n900 performance. thanks in advance

Install the Enhanced Kernel for power users & its settings from the application manager.

install as funkmunk said plus install qcpu ints in the app manager restart device and then got o qcpu and change the frequency and save

for overclock with nitdroid installed : (if you had overclocked before nitdroid install)

apt-get install kernel-power kernel-power-flasher
apt-get install kernel-power-bootimg kernel-power-modules
but this works only if you have multiboot installed

install h-e-n. this will install power kernel. Then install qcpufreq. enable overclocking in setttings.

i use beecons, it takes a little while to setup, but then its trivial to change quickly

I have installed power kernal and QCPUfreq and it only allows me to over clock to 850 any higher and it reboots. So is that the limit of my device or is there another way i can overclock higher. Have seem on borads that lots of people can oc to 1gig or even higher.

Each chip is different. That is why your phone reboots if you go higher than 850.You cud try different voltages to see how higher u can overclock it to..

With my phone if i push it to more than 900 it will automatically reboot.

I noticed that with Power Kernel you could not be able to reboot the phone. At least with the reboot option and even in the terminal.

Unsure I just download power kernal and QCPUfreq and thats it. HOw do I change volt setting to maybe increase OC?

Please read the wiki on overclocking and kernel power, this way you will understand what you are actually doing, rather than doing things in blind faith.

What are you going to do when it all goes wrong and there's no one here to help?!

hey all,

thank you everyone for the helpful insight.

i decided to not overclock as i feel it will harm my n900 and it has been nothing but good to me thus far.

it is not slow, i was just, i guess, being greedy with trying to enhance something which is already good.

IIRC, CSSU requires its own kernel or kernel-power. You cannot overclock with Nokia stock kernel anyway, so I am not quite sure I follow.

If you have CSSU, all you need for overclock is QCPU, mentioned in the 2½ years old post just above yours.
