Re: application for torrent ?

You're being a tad cryptic, if you don't mind me saying so; not really enough info to diagnose what the problem may be. You could go to the Transmission thread for more info on seeting it up and using it. Posting a detailed description of your problem on that thread may even get a response from people who understand the program better.

If, on the other hand, you want a list of torrent sites as your last line seems to suggest, i suspect this isn't the best place to be askign...

Re: application for torrent ?

ctorrent, transmission, qtrapids, rtorrent to name all. try ctorrent + flashlite and use www.torrenteditor.com to delete all udp and red tracker ( connection failed). ctorrent + flashlite is the least invasive filesharing tool available for flash memory systems. see my signature for more!

Re: application for torrent ?

transmission works on n900, i can assure you, so either your installation is broken or you've done something wrong. try re-installing. also torrents are NOT illegal, infact they are an increasingly mainstream and useful content delivery system. so sharing torrent sites shouldn't be a problem, however posting a link to a specific or group of illegal / copyright stolen torrent (s) would be.

transmission only works with 2nd micro sd or mydocs formatted to ext3. it hasn't flashlite technology.

I have not formated /MyDocs to ext3 and is working fine. Write spead is ok, hangs a little bit when downloading but I mostly download over night. I know about the dangers of using flash memory in this way but it suits me.

Are you daft? Transmission works on the eMMC just fine. The I/O hammering will make your device almost completely useless during usage - however it works without "flashlite technology".

Re: [Maemo 5] application for torrent ?

transmission worked for me but i removed it after it made my home read-only, something to do with downloaded large-ish files,
is flashlite in the repos yet?

i'm not daft! it doesn't work it makes the device read-only too! also you don't know what flashlite is all about!

Re: [Maemo 5] application for torrent ?

ctorrent with flashlite looks like a viable solution but would anyone take it upon themselves to make a gui for it and automate the rearrange and rm of the .fl file.

ctorrent + flashlite seem like to much hard work, for now i will stick to transmission on laptop

transmission DOES work, saying it doesn't is simply wrong however you try to justify i!
the program itself won't make your memory unreadable, the nature of how p2p programs download and write data to flash memory will eventually corrupt a block, and then the n900 will assign it as read only when it detects corruption, this is why you should always set a p2p client on a flash memory system to save to removable rather than main memory. flashlite does look like a good viable solution, however claiming it is necessary is wrong. it will work without, on an sd card or n900's main memory if you so choose.

it's maybe working on ext3 eMMc but it doesn't it work on vfat eMMc. Maybe it works on vfat micro-sd card that i don't know. maybe it works if u dl 1 torrent with 100 mb and reduce client to 10. that i didn't tried. but ctorrent+flashlite works out-of-the box on vfat eMMc. Could u explain to me what is ur problem with me when I say ctorrent + flashlite works? Also did u test rtorrent and qtrapids? they don't work either although they claims to be really fast!

Transmission doesn't work for me ever since I upgraded to PR 1.3.
It simply doesn't start downloading when I tell it to.

no not "maybe if..." it does work, i use it, i have not reformatted my emmc or sd card and i can download to either. with multiple torrents and 20/40 peers as standard when i installed this version. i have no agenda or reason to push transmission other than statement of fact and experience.

i have no problem at all with u saying ctorrent and flashlite works, i'm glad it does, what i do have a problem with is you coming on and telling people transmission doesn't work with an air of authority, when it clearly does. at best you are misinformed and at worst just plain lying. it is counter productive and not helpful at all. if you want people to use flashlite, recommend it based on its strengths, dont tell them other things dont work when they do.

i dl a lot. did u trid big files? and also ur device is completly unsuable, isn't it? if that is what u calling is working then i have a problem. also why don't u make a nice video with transmission and 2 dl on vfat eMMc and put it on youtube so everybody can see that it is working?

so do i, this week i have downloaded 2 films approx 1 gig each, aswell as a 1.8 gig .rar using transmission, they big enough for you? no my device is not completely unusable, i am using my n900 to write this. it is, in fact, exactly what i would call working. why would i go to the effort of doing that? to impress you? i'm not the one who's come on talking absolute c**p and making up lies, i have nothing to prove to you. i dont know what reason you have for pushing ctorrent so hard, but making up lies and then accusing others of lying is not the way to do it.

LOL! 1 Gig of rars. Did u unpack it on ur device, too? Just make a video with all this and post it here!

no i unrared it on the laptop, but that is irrelevant.
infact ur ignorance and lies have annoyed me so much i stooped to starting a few downloads while you replied, just for the sake of proving you wrong. is this sufficient proof that both my device and transmission are both working? if not nothing shall cure your ignorance, now please f**k off and think twice before talking out your backside next time.

LOL! It proves u can make a screenshot but not that u can format ur eMMc to ext3 or use ur MicroSD. I want to see a video. I guess the others here too.

i told u i havent reformatted my emmc at all,, and i wouldn't use it on my emmc due to corruption possibility like I HAVEALREADY SAID! well keep wanting sunshine, not everyone here is as ignorant as you and will accept facts, you on the other hand insist upon denying the truth in the face of multiple people telling you the truth, and instead make up lies, you just said my device does not work, that transmission does not work, that if it did it would manage one 100meg file with 10 peers max. i have just shown that you are talking complete and utter s**t. you are only making yourself look more stupid by insisting you are right in the face of this. i have made all the effort i am going to in order to disprove your lies, and perhaps prevent people listening to your misinformation at face value in future. some people cannot be educated and it would appear you are one of them. i wash my hands of you.

Re: [Maemo 5] application for torrent ?

LOL! Maybe u can tell me how to make a screenshot? I got my device a month ago and I'm a bit lost. Help plz!

Edit: Maybe it works for you but it didn't worked for me - that's what I recommend. Also I bought myself a MicroSD card and I will try transmission again. ctorrent+flashlite is quite nice but it hasn't dht + pex + udp.

Edit: Also I prefer qtrapids over transmission and rtorrent!
