Problem trying to overlcock my N900
Hi , i installed PR 1.3 when it came out. Now i am trying to over clock my N900 a little. I had previously overclocked it when i had PR1.2.
I followed these steps : Downloaded the following 3 via application manager from extras-devel 1. rootsh 2. enhanced linux kernel for power users 3. enhanced linux kernel for power users (settings) Once they were installed rebooted the device. Once rebooted opened the xterminal, and tried to run the following commands: sudo gainroot kernel-config load ideal When i run the last command, i get the following msg : "This kernel version 2.6.28-omap1 is not supported. Please make sure that kernel-power is installed and running. If you have just installed the kernel, you need to shutdown and boot to activate it. To reinstall the power user kernel run : 'apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher' ". I am not sure if i am suppose to install this kernel-power. Kindly guide me what do i have to do to fix this? Are there any other steps i need to perform to overclock in PR 1.3? Thanks. |

root apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher restart the phone sudo gainroot kernel-config load ideal should work. the problem is that custom kernel hasnt loaded up.. This kernel version 2.6.28-omap1 (this is the default kernel) |
Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
Tried it and still the same problem. I have the nitrod installer app installed but i have not yet installed the OS. Could that be a problem?
I tried to uninstall the nitrod installer but i cant. I dont get the option to uninstall it from the app manager. When i tap the nitrod installer package in the app manager, under the uninstalling tab it says "Unable to uninstall Nitrod installer". Any suggestions please? |
Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900

Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
when you install the installer. it basically replaces the kernel and install multiboot and other stuff..
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66459 go under Kernel Power installation: For people who want to install Kernel-Power: and follow those instructions |
Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
Could you tell me what is Filebox? Is it some app i need to install?

Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
may i ask why do you have nitdroid-installer if you havent installed it??
|
Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
Well i was going to install it but some how i am not able to connect my N900 to my wifi-modem. I was planning to get a new wifi-modem and install it then. Downloading the OS on my default gprs connection would take ages. So was sort of postponing it.

Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
it easier to install kernel before you install nitdroid
so remove nitdroid for now root apt-get remove nitdroid-installer then reinstall kernel apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher |
Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
I am not able to remove Nitdroid. When i run that command, it says some resources are being used. I am trying to un-install the kernel-power and then try to remove the Nitdroid installer. Let me see if that works. Thanks for guiding me though.

Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
I managed to removed Nitdroid and then installed the kernel. When i try to run the command kernel-config load ideal , i get the same msg : "This kernel version 2.6.28-omap1 is not supported. Please make sure that kernel-power is installed and running. If you have just installed the kernel, you need to shutdown and boot to activate it.
To reinstall the power user kernel run : 'apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher' ". I ran the reinstall command, rebooted and tried again, still i get the same message. Any other way to fix this? |
Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
Hey tele, i was looking at the list of installed apps and noticed a package called "Maemo 5 PR1.2 kernel for multiboot".
Could this be causing any issues with the titans kernel? I am not able to uninstall it using the app manager, could you tell me the command to uninstall it? Thanks. |

- close all apps - open rootshell - type: apt-get clean and then apt-get autoclean and then apt-get -f install and then try to reinstall power-kernel |
Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
I tried to uninstall Maemo 5 PR1.2 kernel for multiboot using Fast Application Manager and it did the trick. I installed the new kernel and overclocked my N900. Thank you all for helping me out.

Re: Problem trying to overlcock my N900
I think apt-get -f install is the most important as its try to correct dependency problem of the system. also apt-get purge may be interesting.
