[Request] Dink Smallwood

As Dink Smallwood is open source (or so I think) shouldn't it be portable for n900?
It has already been ported on pandora so I assume that it would not be that hard to port on n900

Compiles without problems. Sound and music work. Mouse is buggy as hell though.

Got the keyboard working, so the game is playable. CTRL to fight, Shift for magic. Interacting with people/environment - space.
Mouse is still jumping around, use arrows. Extract into directory created by extracting freedink-data (ext2/3).
Might need sdl ttf library. Used freedink-1.08.20101114.tar.gz with freedink-data-1.08.20100103.tar.gz

Changed two keys: i - inventory instead of Enter that didn't work, q - options instead of ESC.

Re: [Request] Dink Smallwood

Does it really depend on using SHIFT?

EDIT: sorry, that was for a different game. Too many tabs open...

btw: there's a newer data package out there?

szopin 2011-08-07 18:47

Re: [Request] Dink Smallwood

If you follow the above link there seems to be newer data - freedink-data-1.08.20110723.tar.gz which should work as the engine is newest version. Tested it only on the previous version though.

Re: [Request] Dink Smallwood

That's what i found and why i asked. Because you stated "used", for me it implied there may have been a dependency on that particular data package version. Nevermind.

Re: [Request] Dink Smallwood

...seems to depend on libzzip-0.so.13, http://maemo.org/packages/ search turns up nothing?

EDIT: crap, who named it 'zziplib' instead of 'libzzip'? So much for naming conventions...

had to install libzlibrary, libzip1 and fontconfig, not sure if all are required to run. try with these

Re: [Request] Dink Smallwood

Thanks, only zziplib was missing here...

So touchscreen function in game is not working? Is there any way to fix that?

don_falcone 2011-08-08 13:01

Re: [Request] Dink Smallwood

Is it needed? I can't remember that you need the mouse, cause i played it, what, like 8-10 years ago?

DFarc is needed for running/installing DMODs. This version does the unpacking, running not so much. Select your freedink directory as the additional mods dir in options (use enter once done, the ok/save button isn't visible even in portrait mode). Run from xterm with 'freedink -g dirname' once unpacked. The ubuntu armel dfarc takes only 200kb and seems to work, so you might want to use it instead. No idea why this is 2mb. Might require installing additional libraries.
Multi-volume tar.
