Google maps on a browser

Hello,

Is there any browser in Maemo 5 that could browse and function well on maps.google.com ?

Preferably, on Maemo 5, chroot linux solutions are acceptable too. I am looking an option that doesnt require to switch to Nitdroid.

Thanks.

It will be soon here www.flaemo.com, optimized just for N900 and touch screen. I'd like to know really about demand of stuff like that (especially web based) to prioritize my tasks.

Are you aware of GeePS? Not in a browser, but google maps with routing etc. Excellent app.

How do you zoom in/out using http://www.google.com/maps/m in microb?

How do you search a single point in GeePS? Whenever I use local search option from the menu, it wants to calculate directions which I just want to browse around a particular point.

Same way you zoom on every page in microB. Finger swirl the screen clockwise or volume +/-.

The google maps also work nicely using Macuco.

Re: Google maps on a browser

the finger swirl or volume +/- will only zoom in the page, not the actual map, you get all pixelated goodness, lol

to actually zoom in the actual map, you have to bring out the mouse pointer (i assume you already know how to do this), lock it, then double tap anywhere on the map.

what sucks is once you zoom in, there's no way of zooming out.

I have Chromium 5.0.369.2 (0) custom installed. The page crashes while loading the maps.google.com. What is your version?

Has there been any updates to Chromium at all? Running same version as well.

There is no Google Maps solution like in android/ios, but try the "Google Latitude and Buzz" app.
