I been reading and trying with out any success the post on this site, If someone can help me My N900 has a lock code, How can I get It open with out erasing what I have on it I have very important stuff on it, Is this possible? If not can someone let me know so I can go ahead and send it to nokia to be reflashed and loose all that info. :(

So, you stole someone's N900 which has a lock code and you want to get the data from it...?

Please show us a pic of your n900 with at least a proof you own it... nokia care warranty/purchase receipt and we're willing to help you :o

Actually, I bought my phone second hand and don't have the code for mine. I don't think it'll affect me though since the last user never put any lock code prompts on the phone.

so how can I prove to you Guys that this phone is not stolen I just bougt it on On June last year I still have 6 months of warranty,Nokia All ready send me the UPS RS to send it to be reflashed but I want to recover My files and pictures from the phone.

You can try this(Needs root access):
1. Save the following to a .sh text file:

#!/bin/sh
echo 'Your encrypted lock code is:'
echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|busybox tail -1):
echo 'Save that code to a plain text file, install John The Ripper, then run "sudo john /path/to/passwordfile.txt"'
2. move it to /home/user
3 run "chmod +x ./myscript.sh" as root from /home/user
4. run "./myscript.sh"
Provided you get some output, you can paste it here and hope someone decrypts it for you.

Hi, I ran the code and it gave my lock code password as: GuFPT5ozAczcY

I did it all on my phone too using Midnight Commander. Starting to really see how powerful this phone actually is!

By the way, the person who I bought it off told me the code was 2608. You said 260881 which has two extra numbers. Whats the reason for the difference?
