I need your help wirh Nokia Messaging and other problems
 

HELLO EVERYBODY¡

I NEED YOUR HELP WITH 3 PROBLEMS I HAVE IN MY N900.

1) I LOST NOKIA MESSAGING. AND I NEED IT TO GET MY E-MAIL ON LINE, HOW CAN I GET I BACK? WHERE IS IT?. I TRIED TO REINSTALL THE LAST FIRMWARE VERSION, AND I LOST EVERYTHING, INCLUDING SYGIC, PROFESSIONAL DOC TO GO, AND ALL MY APPS. ANY IDEA AND WHAT CAN I DO????

2) I AM UNABLE TO INSTALL SYGIC MOBILE MAPS 10, I DOWNLOAD IT FROM OVI BUT INSTALLATION FAILS ALLWAYS. WHAT CAN I DO, I BOUGHT THAT PROGRAM. I ALSO CANNOT INSTALL MOBILE MAPS 9,I HAVE IT IN THE COMPUTER BUT ANOTHER ERROR:D MESSAGE (ERROR MESSAGES ARE IN SPANISH, BUT THEY SAY MORE OR LESS= AN ERROR OCCURRED DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCCESS). I HAD MOBILE MAPS 9 INSTALLED BEFORE AND WORKING IN MY PHONE, BUT NOT ANYMORE. ANY ADVISE ON THIS? PLEASE.

3) I CANNOT PASS MY CONTACT LIST TO THE CAR TRHOUGH BLUETOOTH. THE PHONE IS CONNECTED AND RECOGNISED, I CAN SPEAK TROUGH IT, THE CAR RECOGNIZES THE LAST CALLS, SENT AND RECEIVED, BUT I CANNOT PASS MY CONTACTS, NOT ONE BY ONE OR ALLTOGETHER, AND I HAVE BEEN DOING SO DURING A YEAR. i THINK i CANNOT DO THIS SINCE THE LAST UPDATE OF THE PHONE SOFTWARE IN LATE OCTOBER. ANY HELP WILL BE VERY WELLCOME, EVEN IF I AM NOT ASKING FOR HELP IN THE CORRECT PLACE, AND NEED TO CONTACT SOMEONE ELSE YOU KNOW.

PLEASE HELP ME:(:(:(:(:(:(. I DESPERATLY NEED THAT MY N900 WORKS WITH ALL ITS POTENTIAL:D:D:D

1)What do you mean by you lost Nokia Messaging? Also of course you lose all your applications if you re-install your os (I assume you reflashed).
2)We really need the paste of the log(spanish or not), it's the only way we can help you.

And please, don't write your whole post having the caps-lock on, it's really annoying.

You forgot to mention number four, where all letters you type come out as Capital letters.

You have most likely hit a button that says: "Caps Lock". You need to press this key again in order to type normally. If on N900, shift key solves this. A reboot will also help on any platform.

And I know, I know, no problem mate :rolleyes: And if you can be more specific, I'm sure many people here will be glad to help you out with numbers one to three. Tried a reflash? Followed all instructions?

Tks for your answer, and sorry to use capital letters. i wrote from my computer not from N900. I tried a reflash and I lost everything for that reason. I just cant find where Nokia Messaging is, to continue using it. I think the reason is because it was with the first version, but not with the last update, i reflash with the last update. I don`t know how to do it other way. Any help will be welcome.:confused::confused:

i mean i cannot find Nokia messaging, and don't know how to reinstall it, as simple as that.
2) I don't know how to generate a log to send, but any help will be welcome.
As you can see I am not an expert in blogpost, or in technical questions, or other things, but I am 56 and for me to explain all this in english is already a big effort, so if you would be so kind to help, please:):):):) do it considering my age and lack of kowledge.

Nokia Messaging isn't a separate installation. It's included in the firmware, but whether it appears or not as an available choice when setting up email accounts is based upon what deals the provider of your SIM card has made with Nokia. Maemo checks Nokia's servers during email account setup to learn whether or not Nokia Messaging should be offered with your particular SIM.

Also, no SIM card means no Nokia Messaging.

thanks for your help. I had Nokia messaging before, but it suddenly disappear when i was trying to substitute my account in movistar by my ovi account because the account in movistar only allows you to show as sender your mobile phone number. Nokia Messaging was supposed to be installed with the first version of the software, but i reinstall the last version, is it also there??, if is it where is it?. I have a sim card and I am receiving my e-mail every 5 minutes from home and from lotus notes in the office, bu i want real time, i.e nokia messagin not 5 minutes.

open email, press top bar, go to new account - other, it will check if nokia messaging is available to you, if so select it, if not try another sim to see if it helps.

as for sygic if you downloaded it from ovi you should be able to do so again without being charged, make sure you have deleted any previous install, or attempted install, including mm9.

cant help with the car kit at all.

given these problems and the recent reflash you may be better off flashing again, just incase the problems came from an incomplete/problematic reflash. do the emmc too.

It can be though. If only Nokia Messaging is not working you can always try reinstalling the plugin with:

If that does not work you can always try reinstalling modest with all it's dependencies. Just use the previous command and include everything in the garage page you deem necessary:

These options are only feasible if you want to avoid a reflash. For your problems I would definately suggest a reflash.

I suggest you do a backup and reflash the eMMC too for a clean install. That wiki is pretty straight forward. Download the latest firmware, install flasher and flash it in a minute using command line. Don't use the OVI suite.

with you command it ask me for a password with sudo gainroot and sudo etc. What could be the password?

That indicates you need to install rootsh prior to following those instructions. You'll find rootsh available to install from within the application manager on your N900.

I did a reflash, and i have nokia messaging again. Mobile maps 10 still doesent work, I dont know why, but mobile maps 9 works¡. I will try with my car later. Thanks for all my friend

For the installation of Mobile Maps 10 you need to remove the following folders in /home/user/MyDocs (after having uninstalled the older version):

Maps
Drive
Res

If unsure, you might backup them first or simply rename them to Maps1, Drive1, Res1.
Then try installing Mobile Maps 10 again and it should work.

thank you, I know.

The problem with Moile Maps 10 is that, alltough the installation is succesfull, then i try to open it, ti tries to open for a while (a couple of seconds) and the it shuts down inmediately. I tried to do it in many different ways, i tried with sygic support and they surrendered, I have the activation key,but I just cannot open the application, however I can install an open Mobile Maps 9, and it is activated and it works Why?, humm¡¡ Who knows?. With the reflash I got Nokia messaging back and now is working perfectly. But I had to do the reflash with the "flasher program", not just reinstalling the software through Ovi, That did not work at all and I lost everyghing. Thanks for your help
