Nokia Secret Codes
Do these work on the N900?
Where do you enter them? http://twilightwap.com/mobile/secrets.asp?phone=nokia |
Re: Nokia Secret Codes
I doubt it very much.
You can access most of that information in x with standard commands http://ss64.com/bash/ or applications from the repo's. These coded are for nokia running the standard o/s or symbian they are entered by dialing the number in the phone app. I |
Re: Nokia Secret Codes
Despite all this open-source chest-beating and puffery, how do you know one way or another whether there are or aren't secret codes (these codes or otherwise)? How can you even say that there aren't any if you can't look over the source code?

Re: Nokia Secret Codes
I didnt say they would not work, i just said I doubt they will work.
I provided to op with the means to test himself based on my experience of this type of code entered by dialing a number! Once tested may be they can post back the results |

Re: Nokia Secret Codes
these codes are not secret.
they where invented so that people can get info like IMEI number out of Serise40 phones that didnt have any user interface other than dailing. at least the *#06# one is officially published in nokia developer site (i remember i saw it there), so the developer gan sign his test applications. and although the N900 can reveal that information in several other ways (e.g. the about screen in settings) the code seems to work too. |
Re: Nokia Secret Codes
wtf you guys, where do you THINK you would enter them???
menu > network > phone > dialing pad the IMEI one works, others, not so much |
Re: Nokia Secret Codes
*#06# - yes
*#7780# - nope *#67705646# - nope *#0000# - yes *#2820# - nope *#746025626# - nope *#62209526# - nope #pw+1234567890+1# - nope *#92702689# - nope *#3370# - nope *#4720# - nope *#7328748263373738# - nope and most didnt work on my e90 either...but more did. |
Re: Nokia Secret Codes
This is the one I really want to work!
*#3370# - Enhanced Full Rate Codec (EFR) activation. Increase signal strength, better signal reception. It also help if u want to use GPRS and the service is not responding or too slow. Phone battery will drain faster though |

Does this work? ##7764726
Just morbidly curious whether an Android code would do something. :) |

Re: Nokia Secret Codes
Most of these worked on my 6230 back in the day. (The ones about detecting radar and setting off shop alarms and such are bogus though, clearly.)
As was stated above, most of these were for Symbian devices where the primary interface was the dialer and/or a primitive menu system. As the interface evolves I'm sure most of them will vanish. I'm actually quite surprised anything beyond *#06# works, since I doubt there was much/any cross over code from S40/S60 into Maemo. (If there were, more phone-based codes & SDDS would have worked from the get go.) The main reason for having *#06# work is it's usually the first thing a Nokia rep will ask for. With the IMEI code they can find the model/build and pick the right index card to start trouble shooting with. |
Re: Nokia Secret Codes
Damn - wanted to boost my signal strength. Dont get any where I am sat at work

Re: Nokia Secret Codes
some of those codes are officially part of the GSM standard
edit: btw, becarefull with some of those codes, specially the longer ones, you might endup setting your line to be used (credits included) by someone else |
