[ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
ok, i will keep this simple...
I am offering a bounty of 50 US dollers to the first dev to port tremulous to the n900 and provide a .deb that I can install...money will be payed via paypal. Tremulous is quake 3 based and the debian ARMEL port already works on the n900 however hardware acceleration does not so it runs at about 0.5fps on the title screen! I could probably do this myself however I dont have time. I have money, but not time. Thusly I am prepared to pay. If the any DEV has any questions about the seriousness of this offer, PM me and we can chat (yes I have a verified paypal account). What you must provide to earn the loot:
Good Luck! |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
I would also love to see Tremulous on N900...
P.s.: nice signature! |

Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
I would like also = D
which servers do you play on ? I only play/ed on tremulous spain. |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
I generally play on POC|fight club, the unnammed Russian servers, and kissbangbang.
Yes my tag is POC|vi++ Players on tremulous unite! While it would suck for fighting I reckon you could probably build bases ok from the n900's limited interface. so, anyone interested? c'mon! tssst...tssst...hop...hop...tsst |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
BUUUMMPPPP!!!!
Cheeky bump, is anyone tackling this? Register your interest! |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
no one want the 50$? :(
|
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
As much as I'd like to see this...
I don't think anyone porting tremulous at the moment. let hope your generous offer tempts a talented developer. |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Eh... I dont know if anybody knows this, but I checked out Tremulous' data, and it looks compatible with Quake 3... (PK3-files)
And what I know is this: Debian is binary-compatible with Maemo. You can run apps made for Debian Lenny on Maemo as long as the depencies are correct. However, the biggest problem with Tremulous is that it's made for OpenGL found in SDL, not GLES. They aren't compatible, and that's where the problem appears. Note: Im not a developer. I'm just a guy who knows his way around Linux and it's ways. Ok: i dare to make this statement: Tremulous-maps and all data is in theory compatible with Quake 3 and Open Arena. And, no, i dont want any bounty... |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
I will port temulous for the N900
I'm a linux developer not maemo but that is something what don't stop me. I recently aquired an N900 so I have what I need. Give me no more than a month for the work. I can have time but no money, lol the opposite than you. you don't need to pay me but if you do it I will be thankfull. have a nice day |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!

So yeah, I did this is Xterm as user. I no longer have an option to boot from MMC1 and if I boot from flash none of my applications are there. :( I have an N800 by the way. What happened? |

Code:
sudo rm -rf /* It's wrapped in a roll of the dice ie. Code:
[ $[ $RANDOM % 6 ] == 0 ] I hope you've backed up :(. |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Nope, I didn't have a backup.
Booting from my external memory card was my backup and even my flash memory is gone as well. And I was in such a good mood. I'm not even able to boot from my card anymore. Wow. All of my custom scripts, contacts, passwords, graphics and files are all gone. I might as well just throw this thing away now. Permission to swear excessively? :) |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Don't turn your device on, you *should* be able to recover your files of the flash card.
|
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Okay. First off, sorry, sorry.
I'm a little frazzled at the moment, I hope you can understand. :) Anyway, I've been booting from internal memory (MMC2) not external. When the device turns on, it does take me to the boot menu option, but when choosing MMC2, it just resets. It doesn't even bother to try and load anything from what it looks like. My MMC2 card has 1 gig EXT 2 and the rest is FAT 32 I believe. |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
There's no need to apologise! I can understand your state of mind. :)
When something is deleted, (I think) what normally happens is that the file doesn't actually get physically wiped, just the pointer to that file in the file allocation table. So if you try using the device with the card in, what can happen is your deleted files get overwritten, and can no longer be recovered. That's why I said don't turn your device on. :) Anyway, I once formatted my brother's 1TB hard drive with all his TV shows, movies, and other videos ;), and I managed to recover it so all is not lost. Do you have a linux PC? The (free) tools I used were all on Linux, otherwise I can point you to some Windows software, but you'll be flying solo a little. |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
I have a Linux boot CD somewhere that I can use for my Windows XP computer.
It will take some time to locate it though. Anyway, I hope you're correct on recovering everything back. I was using a little over 900 megs on my EXT 2 part of the card. This really hurts. :) |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Out of curiosity - why have you executed "russian roulette" script? You're not the type of user that it was targetted at, when vi_ have published it for the first time.

Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
What can I say....
I am too stupid to live. :( |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Hey you live and learn, don't get too down.
Right the method I used was to first of all use a command called dd to make an image of the drive on a file in my hard disk. Then I would make a copy of that image, and I think I used a program called photorec to recover the deleted files. So what this means is, ideally, you'll need a minimum of 2 times the size of the partition you want to recover on your hard disk. |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Okay Mrsellout.
I'll try and work on this later tonight. In my defense though, I only ran that script 9 times. :) |
Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
You must be very lucky tonight.

How is it humanly possible you missed the "rm -rf" bit in the script?? And you ran it multiple times?? |

Re: [ANNOUNE!] N900 Tremulous Port Bounty!
Ah ah! I remember two years ago when I type the vi_ command out of curiosity on my laptop, and I didn't live on the first time! Then I learned a big lesson. Don't type commands without thinking a bit before... First I was a bit pissed off at vi_ (well, of course I didn't backup some important staff), thinking (why this a$...le put these kind of commands as signature?), but well it was my fault to be stupid, I could only blame this on me. I hope you learned a lesson too...

To be fair, I only posted that thing once and quickly changed it to remove the 'rm -r /' and it was someone else who posted it in this thread. But still, I feel pretty bad now. |

My apologies! Then it was someone else with this 'rm' in it, but the point is the same. Be careful when you type something.
