I, too, am keen to hear any opinions or predictions, wildly speculative or otherwise. |

Exactly... Milhouse posted this prediction many times over the past few months but after reading what others are saying about Nokia employees going on holidays in July... I now doubt he will be correct in his guess... I am being restricted to actually comment any further and perhaps even this explanation is enough for Reggie to follow through on his warning to ban me. |

I apologize SIR. Here is one of the 25 times Millhouse predicted June 29, 2007 (POST #30)... http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...highlight=june |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
there is a difference between a lie and prediction or guess. euchreprof stated a known lie to be fact for his own gain. euchreprof should be allowed his opinion but .......................
and again this post is turning to be about euchreprof |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
going with the whole Nokia could care less about updates now, I don't think enough units where sold for them to care.
Truth be told I might be the only N800 owner in Brooklyn, NY. |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
This all thinf reminds me DUKE NUKEM FOREVER paranoia.
So, again, the uodate would be available "when its done", right? |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
It appears that ep is incapable of posting without creating bad vibes. We don't need him. He should be banned.

Re: So where is this elusive update?
Here is mty release date theory. Those making the decision have target dates, but these dates are not robotlike commandments. They are based on readiness. The date is not known by ANYONE as a ten-commandment-like rule: thou shalt release on Friday. This is why even the deepest insider must guess. Of course, the closer the release date comes, the better the odds it will actually be released on that day, but it is still subject to adjustment.
ep: it seems clear to me that you are drawn like a magnet to making divisive comments, even since the 'new ep' you pretend to have become. that is why I don't accept your apology. You never did anything to me, except lie, which was on general principles. I have nothing against you but think you should be banned in the interest of the group. Please haunt some other group. |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
I think banning would be harsh. I think it would be more appropriate to write a script that modifies all his posts to, "I am the update fairy, leave a quarter under your pillow and your N800 will be blessed with Skype."

Re: So where is this elusive update?
Thanks sher'... I needed a good laugh this morning! :)

Re: So where is this elusive update?
So much of what many people want is not something Nokia has control over. Skype and Flash are proprietary products. Nokia can pay for the development, but Skype and Adobe control the products. On top of that, who know what happens in the negotiations between the lawyers when they are working out the licensing agreements.
Of course, I'm still eagerly checking maemo.org every day, hoping that it comes out. :) |

And again: the massive re-org at Nokia affected everyone and everything. I cannot stress that enough. If you guys have seen the official announcements (mostly in financial venues) and processed what they obviously portend, then you know the past few months have been... chaotic to say the least. Personally, I've had to deal with a plant closure, a move to the America's timezone, the abolishment of timezones due to the re-org and now a move to a global position-- all since January. I can't imagine I'm the only one in this whirlwind. Hey, I'm frustrated by delays too, but people can only do what they can do... |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
Ok I'll take this as the confirm that we won't have the update (not that it is your fault, of course! :) )

Re: So where is this elusive update?
That phone suffered one major problem: no GSM 850 MHz support. That limited it, in the US, to operators on 1900 MHz. Although Cingular allegedly supports 1900, it's not really there... so the largest GSM operator couldn't support those tablet phones.
I have ranted and railed on the lunacy of omitting 850 from high-end devices, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. It's really insane, to me, when you look across the high-end N series and some support 850 and some do not. No explanation (excuse) I've heard holds water, either. Back on topic: if only people here could see the amount of activity going into N800 OS and software development inhouse. Those folks are CRANKING. |

Back on topic: if only people here could see the amount of activity going into N800 OS and software development inhouse. Those folks are CRANKING.[/QUOTE] Yes, they re going "full steam". Well, given the ambitious projects, it s understandable. Some of my friends don't even pick up call, they only return them one week after, sometimes not at all :( |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
Thats great to hear they are CRANKING!
Can they crank out these for us? Or pass these along =p 1. Email Client 2. Flash Performance (9.0 somehow, even with lack of SDK?) 3. Opera 9 4. Fix wasted screen real-estate 5. PIM Features (SyncML or Google is fine) 6. Accidentally unlock more video codecs and hardware performance? lol :) 7. Make the built in media player navigable 8. Wash my dishes. Really, my dish washer sucks. |

I don't understand why as there are so many manufacturers boasting about their projects years in advance. One explanation is the number of project rejections, I ve been told. |

2) ditto 3) ditto 4) hmmm... 5) maybe... 6) ?! 7) hmmm... 8) Yep, they will be over tonight and get right on that and the rest of this list. I feel confident that the Nokia people are listening to their feedback across the web. |
Re: So where is this elusive update?
I just got emailed a request for doing an additional survey by nokia.... I did the one on tableteer some time ago, but the one today was mostly centered around where I bought my n800 from, what lead me to my uprchase decision etc... definitelly had a marketing slant to it and not so much on the hardware/software.
