Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
Why hasnt anyone updated the Wiki of Nitdriod? I just realized that i am installing an old version right? Im installing right now to sdcard and it says Installing 0.0.8... How do i auto install 0.0.9? And can i update version 8 to 9 once its installed?

Re: Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
I don't know if 0.0.9 installer ever came out. You can use the manual install instructions though if you're up to it.
Upgrading is fairly easy, you basically install 0.0.8, format the /and partition as described in the manual install docs and untar the 0.0.9 or gingerbread version there. (If you use multiboot you might have to copy the new kernel over too, if there is one.) nitdroid forums are the best place for info and discsussions about it :) |
Re: Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
Auto installer of nitdroid-0.0.9 has not released yet. You should try the manual instructions they very easy.
Just delete the nitdroid-0.0.8 and then start the instructions To delete the existing nitdroid type in x-terminal root mount /dev/mmcblk*p* /and (* you have to type where you have mounted nitdroid files for ex- mmcblk0p2 or mmcblk1p2) cd / umount /and and just delete the file and file (by using filbox) Now follow the instructions |
Re: Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
Hold on which instructions am i reading? im friggin lost man, do i read the wiki or which guide..
How do i know where its mounted and stuff all the mmcblk0p2 makes no sense, i just ran the auto installer so i didnt really have to do anything |
Re: Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
mmcblk0p2 is the name of device. In this case, it's flash memory 0 and partition 2. If it's 0 then it means that you are changing the _main_ memory of the phone. To work with sd-card, it has to be 1.
ex. mmcblk1p2 sd-card; partition 2 To install new android, you need simply extract it to the partition where it's installed. Keep in mind that flash memory numbers are in reverse when phone is in multiboot. Steps: sudo gainroot mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and #partition 2 on the flash card rm -rf /and/* #delete old android files cd /tmp wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes/...-0.0.9.tar.bz2 tar -xvjf NITDroid-0.0.9.tar.bz2 -C /and Should work, but there is a chance that I made a mistake and something will go wrong, so make a backup. Also, there is newer android (2.3). If you want to install it, just change NITDROID-0.0.9.. to gingerbread |

Stop being so negative... it's a bit rude to shout the odds when you didn't follow instructions in the first place. If it's not working like you want it to work, then don't use it, but to say the instructions are crap... well they are not crap, I used them on my installation and the App market worked afterwards like the instructions said it would. People on this forum have taken the time to write down instructions. The least you can say is Thank You. |
Re: Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
ty sir, but the app markey fix doesnt work for me no matter how well i read the instructions. My only issue is flash 10.1 installs but will not show any flash content, youtube tells me to update flash.. Ive tried installing so many versions but no dice

Re: Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
Somewhere clearly you have not followed the right instructions. Why are go outside, take a deep breath - calm down, come back inside, remove NITDroid completely off your N900 and reboot, then start again. Follow the correct page of instructions [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread! ;)
On this same page is a choice to install NITDroid 0.0.9. There are very simple instructions. If you follow them correctly it will work. Also on the 3rd page is a proven fix for the APP Market. Failing that, once everything is installed, do a search on this forum for Flash 10.1 installation instructions. |

Re: Nitdriod on SdCard 0.0.8
Right, after much faffing about trying and failing to download the rapidshare link with the Android browser, I've finally got round to trying it out and no it doesn't seem to work, I only tried it on the BBC iPlayer site, but it did give me an error about not having Flash installed. What may be of note is that I'm running Gingerbread (which is Android 2.3) and that download for flash says it is for Android 2.2, so maybe that is why it didn't work. I might wipe my install and try again with NITDroid 0.0.9 (Android 2.2) at some point, but my only real use for Android at the moment is reading eBooks loaned from my local library and what I've got serves me fine for that.
