N900 can find WEP networks, but not WPA or WPA2 networks
I'm not sure if anyone has had this or not, I did some searching on this forum but couldn't find a thread which talked about this issue.
I got myself a new router, set everything up. My laptop has no issues of finding/connecting to both WEP and WPA networks, but my N900 can only find the WEP networks. I know in the past that I was able to find and connect to both, but right now I have no idea what the problem is, I tried every kind of WPA settings that there are, still no luck. Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated. My router is a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH |
Re: N900 can find WEP networks, but not WPA or WPA2 networks
I have recently bought a new router and connect fine with WPA2 so not an issue with the N900. Do you see any wireless networks in the connection list with the double-key padlock icon? Those are the WPA ones. Check your router is set to broadcast its SSID etc.

Re: N900 can find WEP networks, but not WPA or WPA2 networks
@JohnLF
I do not see any dual key ones, I know those are WPA2. I used to see them, I know that for sure. @9000 The firmware is: DD-WRT v24SP2-EU-US (08/19/10) std (SVN revision 14998) |
Re: N900 can find WEP networks, but not WPA or WPA2 networks
The version of your firmware is having issue with kernel power. For details and follow-up, you may refer to this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=60596
Someone in this thread reported that SVN revision 13525 std is working with kernel power, but I wondered if you could find a lower version of the firmware to downgrade. |
Re: N900 can find WEP networks, but not WPA or WPA2 networks
I am having the same problem.
Router: Buffalo WHR-HP-G300N-EU, Firmware: DD-WRT v24SP2-EU-US (08/19/10) std (SVN revision 14998) After installing the power kernel: 2.6.28.10power42, my N900 was unable to see the AP, which ran with the security settings: WPA2 Personal Mixed (TKIP+AES). After changing (TKIP+AES) to (TKIP), the AP was visible again. |
Re: N900 can find WEP networks, but not WPA or WPA2 networks
Cisco WAP4410N with firmware 2.0.4.2 in use here, in combination with Cisco RVS4000 v1 router. Hidden SSID with VLAN and WPA2 Personal AES only; no mixed mode. Working perfectly together with kp49.

I have a Cisco router that uses WPA: the N900 works fine with it.

Router: Buffalo WHR-HP-G300N-EU is now running Firmware: DD-WRT v24SP2-EU-US (05/25/11) std (SVN revision 17135). Switched the Wireless Security Settings from WPA2 Personal Mixed (TKIP) to WPA2 Personal Mixed (TKIP+AES), and the AP remains visible and accessible. |
Re: N900 can find WEP networks, but not WPA or WPA2 networks
You might also consider switching to OpenWRT firmware instead of quite obsolete (stale) DD-WRT.
