Still works fine! I just updated a project and resolved a tree conflict. If you have devel enabled try removing it, disabling devel and installing it again from testing (if there is one I do not remember), or just try an older version

i got 1.6.12 r955767

For the record, I've got subversion 1.6.12-3 from extras-devel installed in my N900.

$ svn --version
svn, version 1.6.12 (r955767)
compiled Jul 7 2010, 19:50:52

$ apt-cache show subversion | grep Maintainer
Maintainer: unknown <sebastien.lelong@gmail.com>

I don't think I've ever actually used it on my N900 before now, but I've just tried it, and I can svn co a private repository over svn+ssh, then run svn up in it. It works for me, no segfaults.

It would be useful if you could tell the world how to reproduce the problem: what svn command to run in a checkout of what (public) repository, using which protocol.

Is there any other way to check this? Attached is my screenshot when I typed in "svn --version". :(

Can you check the package version number with

apt-cache policy subversion

?

Just checked, my subversion is segfaulting too. libaprutil1 is at version 1.3.9+dfsg-5~bpo50+1maemo2.

For those for whom it is working, what repos do you have enabled? I had Extras, Testing, and Devel enabled, when I first installed it. Currently I have Devel, SDK, and (SDK) Tools enabled. (I turned off Extras and Testing because A: I don't think there's anything in those two that isn't in Devel at a higher version, and you always get devel versions anyway; B: not having Extras and Testing enabled when you have Devel on makes the entire update process extremely fast in comparison to having both of them on as well as devel.) I'll see if I can dig up a lower version of libaprutil1 to test with.

Not sure which repositories are which.., but here is a copy of my "hildon-application-manager.list" file:

Code:

deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/apps/ ./
deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/mr0 ./
deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle1.2/ovi/ ./

deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/apps/ ./
deb http://moff.mozilla.com/latest-beta/maemo/multi/ fremantle release

Which repository should I disable to get SVN working correctly?

Cool, I was going to try myself today (if I got around to it) - but I have to ask: Did you reboot between installing the new library and trying to run subversion again?
Not sure if it's necessary, but it's always a good thing to try to do.

No I didn't, but these type of utils (svn) do not run as a daemon process so the next time you run it, it'll just load up a copy of the lib into memory. I just need subversion to work... :(

Re: svn, segmentation fault

Yeah, it certainly upsets me too that it doesn't. Question (both to those for whom it doesn't work and for whom it does), what kernel are you running, do you have the CSSU installed? I'm on power v46, the lxp-wifi-driver supporting one. No uboot or bootmenu.

I listed the repos I have enabled above.

No clue what could possibly be breaking it.

Question, do you guys have a bunch of subversion-fetched files on your N900? I had the Advanced Power and Advanced Interface Switcher ones, plus I have a two-month-old fetch of Metasploit Framework still on device. Maybe something breaks between the reinstall of subversion and having old subversion-fetched files left over?

I'm not sure about that, what files must I delete to test this? I do know that when I run "svn --version" in a folder that I've never ran subversion on before, I still get the error... :(:(:(

First thought was that the "fault" was caused by something that i installed on the phone...Had power46 installed, metasploit... But after flashing the phone, got back to stock kernel, default filesystem, it was still the same problem with svn

Hope that we can somehow overcome this problem...

Yeah, I don't think we all have the same hardware flaw. It's also not linked to CSSU directly... Our only stated commonality is power kernel - but I used svn with this version of power kernel before...

Did you all install power kernel first, or subversion first? For the one guy not using the CSSU, do you have any other hildon-desktop package that uses matan's hildon-desktop mods?

I guess you are talking to me... :p

Yes, I also installed Matan's hildon-desktop as there was a battery draining bug in the PR1.3.

I suspect one of the lib dependencies for subversion has changed, since vanilla firmware is also giving the same error. I think we need somebody who has a working copy of svn and from there trace every library svn uses, and from there, download and install every package and see if it still breaks. :(

Re: svn, segmentation fault

@all: I need a volunteer who has a working copy of subversion. Can you please let us know what version you have installed and all the supporting libs and their versions?

You can please type in:

apt-cache show [package] > [package].txt

The [package] list should be:

subversion
libaprutil1
libapr1
libc6
libgcc1
libuuid1

The funny thing is, I noticed a message that says "Conflicts with libapr1.0" and am not sure if that is the culprit?

Anyway, if you do it right, you should have 6 text files which I hope you can post in this thread.

Thanks in advance.

In the mean time, I'll investigate this "libapr1.0" thingy...

Just a quick update. I tried to install libapr1.0 and got an error the package does not exist but is referenced by another package.

Re: svn, segmentation fault

when doing:

Code:

dpkg -l | egrep -i 'subversion|libapr|libc6|libgcc1|libuuid1'

it throws:

Code:

ii  libapr1        1.4.2-3~bpo50+2maemo1  The Apache Portable Runtime Library
ii  libaprutil1    1.3.9+dfsg-5~bpo50+1maemo2  The Apache Portable Runtime Utility Library
ii  libc6            2.5.1-1eglibc27+0m5  GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone
ii  libgcc1        1:4.2.1-4maemo13+0m5  GCC support library
ii  libuuid1      1.41.3-1maemo6+0m5  universally unique id library
ii  subversion  1.6.12-3  Enterprise-class centralized version control

But dont see libsvn1....? What do you think? Could that be a problem?

@ Can some of you with working :) or not working  versions of svn try this and post us the output...please.

I tried to install libsvn1 and apt-get said there is no such package... :(

@ZenGuru: Just checking, your copy of subversion works?

Re: svn, segmentation fault

This error maybe due to the recent ssl patch ...
Is someone able to install and use current version svn?

Re: svn, segmentation fault

@ajack: No, it doesnt work here. It is like in your case, always getting segmentation fault when doing svn.
