Solved!!!!!A fatal error About EMMC Flashing

I swear I haven't done anything these days but now it is working greatly as before ~~
I am so lucky !!!!

For so many times I have successfully flashed the EMMC and ROOFTS( In other words, the nokia drives in my pc are fully installed). But now it can't be flashed any more ( maybe a hardware problem )whatever I try.

Details:
Yesterday when I pulled out the battery (because My N900 had no response for quite a long time ) to reboot it , then the tragedy occurred .........
What's worse was that for I had installed the Backupmenu-v2 with multiboot already, simply I wanted to rewrite the roofts and opt , however, it failed for twice. I was so lost at that time that I stupidly cleared the opt with the backup's extra function.

So I had no choice but flasher 3.5. Firstly I flashed the EMMC and as described in the title it failed :(
Then I tried to flashed the ROM and It did work.
Now my N900 can boot again but without the 32G any more and even no enough memory to open a coming SMS( phone functions well )....

I TRY:
When I flash the EMMC(BEFORE FLASH ROOFTS) it says that :
D:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5>flasher-3.5.exe -F 1.bin -f -R
flasher v2.5.2 (Sep 24 2009)

Image 'mmc', size 255947 kB
Version RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA
USB device found found at bus bus-0, device address \\.\libusb0-0001--0x0421-0x0
1c8.
Raw data transfer EP found at EP2.
Using flashing protocol Mk II.
SU_PREPARE_DATA_BLOCK_REQ terminated with error code 3.

( You can treat me as a Noob as you like and show me your opinions).

I'm sure this has come up before here. Try googling something like this:

Re: A fatal error to My N900! Please help me a lot...

Sounds to me like component failure so maybe you have damaged the phone by dropping it ?.

Re: A fatal error to My N900! Please help me a lot...

Make sure the device is turned off, run the flasher command, when it says waiting for device, plug the device (still turned off) into the usb port of your computer and wait.

OK as no one is giving you solid answers here i will butt in and try to help.
Have you gone to the Wiki page all about flashing the N900? here is the link in case you need

http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware

Try a cold flash and do everything exactly as it tells you to do and if after that lot you have not succeeded to get back to running order then i am afraid to say you will have no choice but to return it to Nokia care.

Good luck i hope it works for you without having to return to Nokia.

Why are you using that command? In the wiki, it says you should be doing something like this:
Code:

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_2.2009.51-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
Please try and be clearer in your posts - earlier you send you were on Windows 7, and that you'd try XP - what was the result? What O/S are you on now? etc etc

I have successfully flashed the Rom for several times .
Isn't that command about "cold flash "?

I flashed my N900 all on win7 before and all is successful.

Follow the instructions in the wiki.
If it "doesn't work", copy/paste what you have done and the results here.

If you are confident you have followed the instructions in the wiki and you're still getting these errors, it's broken. Send it back to Nokia. W

Re: A fatal error About EMMC Flashing......

The supposedly infallable Wiki seems to have been rewritten lately (no date given), presumably to an even higher level of infallibility, so you might take another look.

I myself found rebooting essential between EMMC and regular flashing (couldn't complete the second flash otherwise), but I'm not sure which version of the Wiki I was following -- but it was the current one at the time, and it couldn't have been more than a month or two ago.

Despite statements about flashing not working with 64-bit Win 97 in this thread, I have flashed successfully with 64-bit Win 97 more than once.

SO, my sympathy lies with the OP. Flashing can be confusing.

Re: A fatal error About EMMC Flashing......

I know this sounds stupid, but the wiki has emphasised:

Turn off phone (I take out and replace the battery, and cover! to be sure)

Issue flasher command without conneting phone. DO NOT use -R (force reboot) command at end of command string

hold down U key on N900 when plugging in and keep holding until either usb icon appears on n900 screen or flash starts.

ALWAYS flash emmc (vanilla) Before Rootfs

DO NOT reboot between vanilla and rootfs (do not use -R at end of flash command). however take out and refit battery between flashing vanilla and rootfs.

I killed my n900 this weekend trying to load QT libraries - rootfs 100% full and not able to resolve without reflashing
Although I reflashed on Ubuntu Linux, it still took 3 attempts before Emmc flashed succesfully.

I'm not trying to treat you like a Noob but the above instructions are from the latest wiki page...

otherwise, off to Nokia care (lol) with you. Good luck

Re: Solved!!!!!A fatal error About EMMC Flashing

I flashed my N900 yesterday with both Vanilla and Fiasco images and followed the WIKI step by step and I had absolutely no problems what so ever and I used the -R option when running:

Code:

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
So I can vouch for the WIKI.
