[SOLVED] E-mail app problem on home network...
Hello
Yesterday I updated my old router to new one... And now when I connect to my home network, the e-mail program CAN NOT update my email accounts... When I switch to 3G or a open WIFI network it's can doing updates and I can get and send e-mails... When I connecting to home network I can access internet with no problems, only the mail program not work... What can I do ? Any ideas ? Thanks |
Re: E-mail app problem on home network...
It could be a firewall rule on the router getting in the way, but it's unusual.
What kind of router is it? |
Re: E-mail app problem on home network...
I thought about firewall, but it's not make sense.. I can access internet with no problems, only the mail program not work...
The router is D-Link VDSL - 6740U.... |
Re: E-mail app problem on home network...
Check on the router what ports 110 and 25 might be doing, as they are the two ports modest uses.
Also check for firmware updates for the router. If it's a newer model early firmware can be buggy! Failing that, if you bought it from a shop you could taking the router back and asking for a different model. |
Re: E-mail app problem on home network...
Ok, I talked with ISP support and he told to me that router come is open to all ports.. He not know what the problem...
I tried add the ports 110 & 25 to port forwarding - still not work I tried to disable the firwall - still not work I tried delete my home network from N900 and add again - still not work I tried to delete the one of my e-mail accounts and add him again - still not work... I noticed the sharing services is also stoped to work... Dont know what else can I do... |
Re: E-mail app problem on home network...
I've done a bit of googling, but it appears this is an eastern european product? so all the manuals I find are in Russian or other languages I don't speak.
All home routers I've come across have a firewall that blocks most incoming connections but allow all outgoing connections. As your N900 will be on your home network it will be initiating the outgoing connection so it should be open. You shouldn't need to port forward ports 110 and 25 as that's probably for incoming - and as it hasn't made any difference I'd delete those entries. One thing I'm wondering is if your router offers some kind of guest mode on your WiFi which might be heavily restricted. Have you entered a WPA key/password on the router? Did you get prompted for it when you first connected to the WiFi? |

1. Directly 2. guest mode I tried both options, with WPA key and without... It's connected to internet without problem, I can surf and see internet pages, only the mail app and sharing services is still not work.. And when I switch to public WIFI or 3G the mail app and sharing services is start to work.. (sorry for my bad english) |

Re: [SOLVED] E-mail app problem on home network...
Ok, my problem is solved by entering DNS addresses of my internet provider to my phone (into the int connection -> my home network -> IP address...) and now all services working perfectly :)
I still don't know why my router is not did this automaticly... |
