You mention some problem about permissions as root? You're not very clear on your exact problem, but it may be a corrupted MyDocs, in any case it won't hurt to follow these steps to fix any filesystem problems on MyDocs.

Stuff not showing in the media player, that is likely to be a tracker problem, run "tracker-processes -r" to delete the tracker databases and restart tracker, in about 5 minute (maybe longer if you have a lot of files) your media files should have been reindexed and will show up again.

But if you really aren't happy with your N900 then sell it and get something you will be happy with.

The best thing to do now is go into one of the electronc store and buy yourself a microUSB and relash it. It is the fastest way to fix your problem. The worst way is to trying to resolve the problem via commandline but that would end up taking longer than you can afford.

N900 will not go unstable without your own silliness faults, if you installed bad applications then you'll suffer from it. Extra-Devel is a dangerous place for beginner, even for me I find it scary at times.

Does the command "df -h /" really come out blank or does it give an error? It shouldn't be blank, I'm not sure how you would get that if it really is.

If your rootfs really is full it would result in some of the other problems so you need to sort that first. Try moving flashplayer to optIf that works then you should have a few megs of free space on your rootfs to work with. If "df" isn't working it might be because it looks for filesystems in /etc/mtab and if your rootfs is full mount can't write to that file, now you have freed up a bit of space (hopefully) you can now recreate it by running (as root)Now the df command should hopefully work to tell you how much free space you have. If you get any errors with these commands post them here, but I still think flashing is a easier/better option than trying to fix this mess.
