Quick!
Everyone sell their N900 while the value is high

Re: N900 is the first phone to appreciate in value after 1.5 years

will you look at that !!!!!!!! there is something going on here, maybe they have the last few stock n900s ever, and they want to take advantage of that, anyway for me thats good news.

glabifrons 2011-04-30 14:17

Re: N900 is the first phone to appreciate in value after 1.5 years

I know Amazon lies about their quantities.
They listed having 8 in stock when I bought mine; and it never went down (I checked multiple times per day). I highly doubt they got a shipment of one at the same time mine was shipped. ;)
I'm pretty sure I saw postimgs about others buying at the same time.

That said, it's likely their auto-pricing algorythm going nuts again... you heard about the $23Million book, right? :)

gerbick 2011-04-30 14:18

Re: N900 is the first phone to appreciate in value after 1.5 years

I wouldn't call that an appreciated price as much as it reflects scarcity and some semblance of demand.

Now... if you can sell your phone for higher than you bought it, yes... your used one... then that would be appreciation.

Re: N900 is the first phone to appreciate in value after 1.5 years

Maybe they just increased the price since demand might of increased because of Meego 1.2 DE?

Maybe they increased the price preparing to put it on sale so they can claim a bigger markdown.

No, it did not. Amazon had it for 350, then they ran out. The 550 is from someone else through Amazon. Amazon list many items as available from several sellers, including Amazon, some new, some used.

Re: N900 is the first phone to appreciate in value after 1.5 years

It could be the rarity of the device that's pushed the price up, could even be the level of demand has increased significantly or people are just thinking 'Damn!!! This is the phone I should have bought'.

But, does this actually prove what we've been saying all along?

"Dear Nokia.

When you ditched the N900 and Maemo, you dropped the big one."

Spr33 2011-04-30 18:04

Re: N900 is the first phone to appreciate in value after 1.5 years

Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but the phone is being sold by a third-party retailer. In other words, Amazon no longer controls the pricing...

There's only been one Maemo phone released... well, only one Maemo tablet with the ability to make GSM based phone calls.

The rest were pure tablets (770, N800, N810, N810 WiMAX Edition)

Re: N900 is the first phone to appreciate in value after 1.5 years

I had a feeling this would happen. I got mine about three days before the price went from 350 to 430 and now this. Mine says 44/2010 on the box, will be intresting to see what the latest production date is, so if you have one please report. Last time when the N810 started disapearing the price went down, so the uprise is puzzling, maybe just temporary out of stock. If you are on the fence, better get one when the price drops below 400, this the first and last resistive-screen-keyboard-linux-mass produced phone.
man I love this keyboard.

£299.99 cheapest new at AmazonUK. Works out at just over $501 US.

£10 dearer than their cheapest listed N8.

Its true and its amazing...

It could be the weakness in US Dollar making imports expensive into US so new stock must be high price.

I got my 2nd N900 1.5 month ago for 399EUR.

www.geizhals.at says
345,20EUR at amazon.de is the cheapest
offer (http://geizhals.at/a457621.html) but I see
it there for 319,90EUR from another seller (not Amazon).

I should have wait.

If there are no more outlets listing the n900 at cheaper price, then you can claim that the n900 has increased in its selling price.

Otherwise, anyone can register themselves as an amazon seller (well ok, nearly everyone) and list their n900 for whatever price they want on Amazon (see also: $23M book). Whether the thing finds a buyer is a wholly different matter.

http://www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listin...&condition=new

look at the end of list,a new seller from the marketplace offers a galaxy s2 for 57000 euro :)
