[Help] wireless-tools
Hi
I removed by mistake the wireless-tools package from my beloved n900 and I can't install it back anymore. I tried with apt-get but it says that it couldn't be found. Does anyone know how can I get it back? Thank you. |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools

Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Wireless-tools MISSING in repos!!!!! :eek::eek:
|
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Yep, and the situation doesn't change.
Is there any way to fix that problem, maybe someone have wireless-tools package saved somewhere and can upolad it? I really need my n900 to work as hotspot in few days, anyone, anywhere? And to be more specific, Im running my n900 up-to-date with cssu update. |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Here you've got the deb file: http://maemo.gilababy.com/apt-mirror...+0m5_armel.deb
Or (better) enable repositories form maemo-repos.com (and get rid of such kind of problems). |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Thank you for quick replay, I will try both ways (Installing the .deb alone and installing package through the repository, but after quick look at those you posted I think I got the same ones.)
Will report everything later, while I got more nokia-time ;) |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Either way results the same so there is no need to try them both. ;)
But as I said it would be better to add the repositories from here through clicking in N900's browser on those links: http://maemo-repos.com/apt-mirror/repo/ovi.install http://maemo-repos.com/apt-mirror/repo/ssu.install http://maemo-repos.com/apt-mirror/repo/apps.install And if you use Faster Application Manager you should add those repositories manually: Nokia Ovi Code:
URL: http://maemo-repos.com/apt-mirror/mirror/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ovi/ Code:
URL: http://maemo-repos.com/apt-mirror/mirror/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/mr0/ Code:
URL: http://maemo-repos.com/apt-mirror/mirror/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/apps/ |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
You need to use one of the mirrors for the Nokia repos, or add the SDK repo ...
wireless-tools is in both of them (mp107 beat me to it :) ) |

Re: [Help] wireless-tools
I'm using these repos (seem to work good):
should I use instead the repos posted from mp107? |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
mirrors.muarf.org were down for quite some days, so we got those Maemo-Repos.com
Thankfully! :) |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Hi, I currently have version 21.2011.38-1
When I try to install the package from here: http://mirrors.muarf.org/maemo/apt-m...ireless-tools/ I get a message that this is an incompatible package. Do I understand correctly that these packages are good for the version: PR 1.3 version 20.2010.36-2 So I have to erase my memory again, upload it and download the packages? Without CSSU? Is there any possibility to upload this and other packages when I have CSSU? |

Hi, I would suggest that try Code:
apt-get install wireless-tools jm |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Thank you for the quick reply.
After your command I have: Code:
home/user # apt-get install wireless-tools |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
That is what I assumed... Could you check your sources list... (A.K.A what are the repos that you set in application manager...?). I think you are missing some repos... You can check in terminal too:
Code:
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
I thought it is in the tools repo.
Code:
deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/tools free non-free |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
|
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Code:
cat hildon-application-manager.list |

Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Yes, I installed:
RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin from: http://web.archive.org/web/201311170...ev/nokia_N900/ Then I installed: http://repository.maemo.org/communit...mantle.install Code:

Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Hmm... and did you click on the button/icon that cssu-enabler installed...?
I recommend reading and following this. Edit: I see you did an update; some of the repos are not available for a long time (since nokia gone) that is why I linked my repo list because there are mirrors. |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Yes, in settings I have "About Community SSU"
When I click that I see: Quote:
How can I add your repolist? |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Hmm... strange as wireless-tools should be installed by default...
Anyways; you can refresh the repositories (check the ones I linked but maybe you should not add extras-devel and community-testing :) ) and then in terminal: Code:
apt-get update |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Great, after adding yours repo list i can install wireless-tools in Xterminal.
Thank you very much for your help, because I've started not to like her ;) |
Re: [Help] wireless-tools
Do not give up so easily because if you do so then your friendship (love...? :)) would not last long... ;) Owing and using n900 is not that straightforward when you have no experiences; and to have experiences you have to struggle (and suck) sometimes... :)
