[Question] Are there any programs to track the GSM/3G signal strength?

I would like to track the signal strength on my phone, when I'm on the bus, to see if I loose the connection anywhere.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I have looked at that program, but that requires me to look at the screen all of the time.
It would be better if I got a program that shows a graph over the signal strength over time.

conky can graph it

Hmm...graph means graphing over time, right? I am very interested in an app graphing with GPS coordinates and display the track with color encoded signal strenght (like josm does for velocity). But I never saw something like that.

Thanks,
Rainer

You could write a small script that polls the signal strength and adds it to a file. Then you can download this file into excel or similar and graph it or diagnose it anyway you want.

Noobmonkey's Healthcheck app reads the signal strength, you could get the required info from looking at his program sourcecode, then use cron or similar to run the script at regular intervals.

Or use Queen Beecon Widget as it can access the GPS for you with a timer. Then use a DBus command to get the signal strength and write it to a file.

I'd like to see the strength of all the operators, not just the one I have a sim for...

Be good app for me too. Be a great boon in convincing the network op that they have serious signall issues around here.

The best would be if you could plot the signal strength on a map.
But It shouldn't be that hard to make a program like battery-eye, that tracks the battery status, to plot the signal strength on a graph.

Anyone know of a program or function that makes a noise or vibrates when the phone loses the signal or if it switches between GSM and 3G
