Light all the colours on the outer circle by rotating the inner circles, BUT HURRY, Max is counting!


Inner-Spin is a simple (but hopefully adictive) game, where an outer pattern has to be matched by rotating 3 inner sections, it starts slow but soon speeds up, to argggh levels of difficulty.

It is written in python (with pygame), and introduces the considerable vocal talents of Max Day to the world of Mobile gaming (as well as the less considerable musical talents of Tony Day).

There are now 18 achievements to unlock, can you get them all?

The inner-spin package can be found in the extras-dev repository.

Im going to have to give this a try, if only to witness personally the considerable voice talents of the inimitable Max Day!

Looks like a great little original game, tpd, well done and thanks for bringing it to us :) Have you thought about entering it into the coding competition? There's a Games category it would slot right into, and beginners (if it's your first Maemo/MeeGo app) will also have an additional chance for prizes. It's a friendly competition and there's some genuinely good prizes so take a minute to check it out, the worst that can happen is you'll get a bit more publicity for your hard work :)

Thanks, glad the general response is positive... To me the voice of Max is the game, though I do understand how to some the voice of a 5 year old constantly nagging in your ear might get a little irritating (maybe my next app will be a gps linked voice that helpfully prompts you with "ARE WE NEARLY THERE YET" at all stages of your journey).

Future updates might see the voice switch-able in isolation to the music.

Coding competition.... while it's probably a little like entering a Rat in Cruffs (the code is a hideous mess). I will gladly make up the also ran numbers, and applaud all efforts to keep development on my beloved albeit slightly flawed n900 alive.


Also have you seen those ipad prices and who could you trust more than a random internet spammer?

Radicalz.... I believe that issue was present in one of the several flawed versions I uploaded to extras-devel before I properly sorted out the settings file.

Can you ensure you have the latest version? 0.1.3-10, if you are still getting it let me know and I'll provide a fix

I'd love to see a pause-screen every time you hit the pause button, to prevent cheating... :D

For those of you who do not wish to enable the extras-testing repo, you can go to the site http://maemo.org/packages/view/inner-spin/ and download the latest version via the .deb file by issuing a "dpkg -i <filename>.deb" and if the install fails with dependencies issues, issue an "apt-get -f install" which will pull in the relevant libs (assuming they themselves are not from extras-testing). The only other problem would be you will not get updates should tpd release newer updates. Love the game, though it's a bit confusing to play at the moment...

try to pause the game, take a look in which direction you have to spin, double-click the screen to unpause an #win!
But I hope this possibility to "cheat" will be removed.. :D

Well, I think I´m the only one that cannot start Inner Spin from the desktop shortcut?

I´m with the last cssu update, 20.2010.36-2maemo14-1

Already run too apt-get -f install and nothing...

Well I used to cheat in exams but that was long time ago :-)
Now I think 'cheat=nofun'
But I'll try because I feel that even with cheating it will be difficult

Haha, exactly my story and opinion!
But I can't stop to "cheat" in inner-spin... Because of that I would love to see that mentioned pause-screen.

well pause... is nice and useful for taking screen shots ;).... but point taken, it will be made less cheat friendly in a future release.

Of course right now if you want a less cheat friendly pause you can press the Info button at any time.

Difficulty levels.... A couple of people have said that the curve is too difficult, so I might look to tweaking the curve.

Reverse timer. Make it count up to see how long it takes to complete, and keep a high score instead. Fastest times obviously win.

I will look.... Reverse timer will certainly not replace the current game mode (I think once you have the hang of the game mechanics it works fairly well)...

but I might be able to add alternative modes (how quickly can you complete first 1, 5 , or 10 etc etc levels)

New version (0.2.0) uploaded to Extras-Dev, adds a pause screen to discourage cheating, pausing on losing window focus (so the game doesn't continue without you) and most majorly 18 achievements to get (can you get them all).

New features could probably be beautified (and when you get an achievement it's not that obvious) but the feature are (touch wood) mostly functional!

High scores will be scrapped on update unless /opt/inner-spin/settings/issettings.cfg is backed up prior to installing.

I've got a problem with mediaplayer after removing inner-spin.
It removed the libs libsdl-tff2.0 and libsmpeg0.
As a result the mediaplayer (with Extra Decoder Support and Ogg Support) stopped supporting my .avi-films.

Simple solution: Installing this two libs via terminal.

Can you somehow change that this two libs will not be removed by uninstall the game?
