N900 won't charge anymore

My phone just don't want charge anymore, using the wall charger. Using the USB it OK!

I tested my wall charger with another phone, and it's ok!

What could cause that?

Help

Thanks

Sounds like the famous loose USB port problem...

For example: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66564 (and many others)

Anyway, everyone should be using a separate battery charger. You can get them for $10 or so and they work fine.

Yeah your right but I find them to be really slow in charging anyone recommend a desktop charger that does a faster job?

It does sound very much like a hardware problem - I'd be very surprised if flashing it helps...

its best not to use the usb, use a desktop charger and ssh to transfer data that way your at least minimising any potential problems with usb port, lol maybe that may not be enough.LOL

My usb final broke off completely. Simply don't need it anymore.

I bought 2 extra batteries and use my old defunct N96 to to charge the BL-5J battery. They battery doesn't need to sit flush, just clip in an touch the prongs.

With 3 batteries, i am able to use the N900 continuously.

I had this problem, stop charging PLUS won't start if not in R&D mode. I reflashed like 8 times, it wont'charge. I had to buy and spare charger and batterys. Like you said, the usb works for transfering data, but charging is what stop working. I want to try to dissasembly and try to see if I fix the usb but maybe I will make it worst, so.. Space charger and battery it is!

They are NOT really slow in charging if you just automatically stick the charger in the corner somewhere and have several batteries and start charging a new one whenever you take out an old one. My experience is that it takes a few hours to charge one.

You are probably next going to say that batteries are too expensive to have several of them.

Do a power search on Scud batteries to find cheap batteries that are better than the Nokia originals.
