And as ever the usual warning applies: It's the first release of this Application. Perhaps there could be a lot of bugs inside. So please test it only if you know what you're doing or wait what will happen in this Thread. And don't forget to create a backup (just in case). I only want to share my little application. But I hope for a lot of positive feedback! :)

Just tested it. Whilst there are no bugs per se, it doesnt seem to work as expected. Maybe this is a prank application that doesnt work?

Keyboard closed only showed contents of phone. Keyboard open only showed the circuitry directly behind the screen. I tried placing my fingers behind the screen, didnt show them. Placed car keys directly behind screen, again didnt show. Im not convinced that these arent just images youve placed there

It sounds like you may have a defective N900 :( I'd suggest calling Nokia Care to question why the cosmic background radiation from your N900's LCD preamplifier is not sufficient to enable you to see your fingers through the phone. If this fails to fix the problem you may wish to raise a bug report.

Zoom feature not implemented yet? Can't re-scan after first scan without having to exit the app? This must be considered a Bug! Also, my fingers looks longer than they actually are. I guess you've got a scaling problem. Also, I'm using Kernel Power 47 and runs flawless... so I gues you just getting the internal circuit diagram are having aditional problems not necessarily related to the app..
Seriously, 1.2 Mb its a lot for this "app"...

You could implement the feature of sensing earthquakes before they strike using the accelerometer. Just think of the thousands of lives it will save! Oh, and a module for the camera to map the milkway surrounding our galaxy :)

So, after reading the replies I guess my initial plan and my little application is working as expected! :D

I participate with this Application at the Coding Competition in the FUN & STRANGE section. And as far as I'm able to check some people here have already fun. So it works! :D

For me it's a small learning project to get more familar with graphical objects. (have a look at the matrix stile numbers effect - it's real time calculated and every time different)
I've a Idea for a, in my opinion, good small Game that could work great at the N900, it's successor and some Tablet computer. I know, nobody in THIS thread will belive me now, but it will simulate a Multitouch screen. Yes, you read correctly. You will play this game the most time with 2 fingers on your screen. (not more, not less) This game will feel at the N900 as if it has a multitouch screen. ;)
Okay, I can see it on your face (thru the light sensitive layer on your screen) you don't belive me. So please stay tuned. I hope I could release something in the next months. (but I guess unfortunately only after the end of the coding competition - I have still a lot to learn and not enought time and vacation) :(

In my opinion it works a lot better than the "similar" and expensive applications for the fruit phone from Apple. :) I my opinion my application has in contrast a chance that someone could belive it for more than 5 seconds... ;) Am I wrong? :D

In the very unlikely case you could like my work, please test the donate button in my little application. It could never get a compensation for all the hours I spent learning C++ and Qt... but it will be in my opinion the best feedback and the best motivation I could get. :)

It's only a detector, not a radiator. So you should be safe. ;)

Once the scanning process introduced it updates the shot steadily. So in the end you will get the same result. But perhaps it could need a little bit more time... :)

Sadly, the application is, because of the touch sensitive layer, unable to detect radiation in front of the screen. :(
Warning! It is unable to detect or shield you against gamma radiation! And to protect you before Alpha and Beta radiation the N900 is even to small...

It's only able to detect the radiation some milimeters behind the screen. But I have currently no explanation why the sensitive range scaled down that much as soon as you open the screen. I have the same effect on my device. :confused: Perhaps a electrical short thru the air? Any ideas?
As far as I was able to check it works in the vacuum a lot better... does anybody knows some dude that has booked a flight to the ISS, soon?

love the effects and general design of the app.... Nice job (even if the joke wears thin pretty quickly) I hope what you learnt on this app gets to see light of day in something more interactive soon!!!

And no! It's more. It hase some cool fading effects, the buttons handles the glow effect itself, graphical objects that controls itself in the mass (looks so abolutely great with 300 green numbers, but sadly the N900 is only capable of 50 or my code is still not efficient enought) - the numbers are rearranging itself to the borders during the corner scan, the application has a additional menu level inside the scene (was surprisingly hard for me to handle it correctly), it has self created button objects with own Signal and Slots and the whole "just image" reacts depending of the keyboard state. (also controlled by the graphical object itself and not somewhere in the main routine)
And the "just image" has more level fading - it is able to fade in or out and to crossfade at the same time! Also the buttons, the glow effect works even during the fading.

And no, its created the hard way using QGraphicsScene and not QML!
So, each step in the storyboard has its own Signals and Slots and is not designed in a Statemachine, a Animationframework or something like that...

But for some people it is more, for other less. That's the sad thing if you release something you have made yourself in your spare time... the work behind is often not visible in the first 5 seconds.
Luckily it's my own hobby. So I create this kind of applications mainly for myself. If it's not enought for you you're not forced to use it. Same goes especially to jd4200.

It's an amusing novelty app, people shouldn't take it too seriously. Ok so it's not everyone's idea of fun, but if it's not what you're looking for then move on to the next application :) It hasn't cost anything but a bit of bandwidth and time, there's no need to denigrate the efforts involved with making it. Honestly anyone with an ounce of common sense should know exactly what they are downloading from the description, but perhaps it still needs to be made clearer that it's a novelty application. Some of the replies from disapointed people trying to make it work have made me laugh though.. and N900 owners are supposed to be the smart geeky bunch! :D

In my opinion it would end in a awful, buggy and not very well working Application if I have not enought knowledge and experience. I've seen a lot examples to prove my theory. And in my opinion it was a lot more useful to develop something "funny" instead of playing 5 weeks with code and objects and delete the code afterwards before I begin something real. But we have all different procedures how we learn and develop. :)

What was your last Application you've done from the beginning to the end?

helex you should add a fonction which says how many roentgen cosmic radiation is detected so we know if we are in a secure environment, and maybe one that says how many bioalpha 784xb radiations it detects too to know if there are aliens around us hidden. I have other ideas but I keep them for later on.

I remember some time ago seeing a post related to x-ray images of the n900... In fact those images are real x-ray images made by a guy of this community ;)
