N900 camera is not working
HI All,
Recently im facing a problem with my N900 that the camera app is not working. I installed the CSSu in the mobile. Not sure from when its stopped working. But currently the camera is not working. when i open the camera shutter, the camera application is opened but when i switch on the camera button nothing happening. Flash light appliation is installed long back but both functionalities were working fine. But now when i start the flashlight app i get the error msg saying "unable to initalize the flash light camera in use by other application" but there are no other apps running. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: N900 camera is not working
try removing all the other apps and check if it's working .
else it's clear from what you have written that after installing cssu it's not working. try googling with cssu no camera talk.maemo.org may be it will lead you to that page as this issue has already been mentioned here but cant remember the exact place :$ |

Re: N900 camera is not working
Hi, I have had the same problem. I'm using the extra-devel power-user kernel. Camera works as expected since I removed camera-driver-module (sorry, I can't remember the correct name) with the application manager.

Re: N900 camera is not working
Hey guys,
So did we figure out any solution to this. I am having the same problem (on CSSU) after installing BlessN900. The problem is persisting ever after uninstalling it and rebooting. Thanks! |
Re: N900 camera is not working
I just got this problem too. What driver did you have to remove to make it work again?
|
Re: N900 camera is not working
Hi guys! I had the same problem before and the reason behind that was I installed kernel power 46 (you'll also have the same problem on kp47) on an N900 with an incompatible version of Fcamera/BlessN900.
What you should do is uninstall Fcam or BlessN900 and then reinstall it, it should download the latest Fcam driver which is compatible with kp46/47. :) Hope this helps. |
Re: N900 camera is not working
I uninstalled both BlessN900 and FCamera, then reinstalled only FCamera. It still doesn't work.

Re: N900 camera is not working
Weird... that did the trick for me. Maybe you got some other problem...
Anyway, this post by demolition helped me much. You can check it out for yourself. :) |
Re: N900 camera is not working
Try on terminal (with rootsh):
sudo gainroot; apt-get purge fcam-drivers; apt-get install fcam-drivers -y |
Re: N900 camera is not working
@zerocool2k
It's not just the camera - it's the drivers too. As vetsin said, I jotted a few notes on the matter http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=246 In short, if you're using KP v0.46+ use FCamera drivers 0.1.7-2. v0.1.7-1 will prevent the camera working at all with Power Kernel v0.46+. Removing FCamera drivers, once installed causes conflict too so just install v0.1.7-2 and all should be good. |
Re: N900 camera is not working
Thanks guys. Updating the fcam drivers did the trick. I guess it didn't automatically update the driver because I have some other apps that have it as dependency.

Remember: apt uninstalls all depending applications (in my case lowlight) when you remove the drivers. Watch the output of apt while deinstallation and don't forget to re-install them as well. |
Re: N900 camera is not working

Re: N900 camera is not working
Hi All!
I did not find a more relevant thread to my question, so I post here: I have CSSU Stable 21.2011.38-1Smaemo7 installed but camera-ui is still the stock (1.1.29.1+0m5) and not the rewritten CSSU version. Is it normal? How can I install the CSSU version of camera-ui without reinstalling CSSU itself. (Note: I'm aware of this gitorious page but do not know if I can install it from source...) Thanks, jm |
