Oh dear God. Mango. I'm pretty sure you can actually HEAR my eyes rolling from way over there.

That UI makes fvwm look like the bees knees. I can't see them converting people from ios or android with this. It is like going from a supermodel to a hag.

Yeah--my impression isn't positive but then I've never personally used it, so I can't make an unbiased opinion. All the hip reporters seem to like it, though--but then, these hip reporters also often have a myopic perspective of what a useful and comfortable interface is when they only use things for minutes or a few days at a time but never have to live with it for much longer than that and are wooed and impressed by shiny things and bubble-shaded objects. :)

That's my whole point. This isn't even shiny compared to existing stuff.

Mango's "...IE9 will not support any kind of Flash or its videos or even embedded HTML5 clips" [http://mobileosreviews.com/].

I don't usually do this but,

LOLZ, ROFLMAO, suckaaz!

Ok, back to being disappointed with Noks (yeah, Nokia and I are like that, on first-name-basis)

Seriously? In my country mango can be referred to some sexually transmitted diseases. It'd be pretty awkward to ask someone if he got Mango.

Protip: "these hip reporters" like what they're being paid to like.

Harsh, but this is a reality of how the world works.

They'll like a gold-plated turd if it came with a check from Microsoft.

Yes and no. Yes, there are those. No, there are still many that aren't necessarily ready to break their integrity for money or gifts. What I think happens sometimes with tech journalists is that they prefer to root for everyone and decide to do away with any critical thinking in their reporting. In all honesty, I'm far more likely to believe that that's the case, based on the way they talk. It annoys me when they make innaccurate statements or conveniently forget to do any research (or maybe they don't have a genuine interest in tech) and didn't realize how much better something could/should be or forget that something had already been done before. (ala Microsoft claiming to invent filesystem hard links in a patent, or that Apple DID try to get into the gaming market (remember the Apple Pippin?) WAY before Microsoft, and so on and so on).

Irksome. Just... irksome. Seems less about money and integrity and more a lack of journalists bothering to do some research or a lack of experience.

All we saw inside the boxing ring is a 500 pounds fat giant throwing money to a step father for killing an unborn infant inside a pregnant woman, which the step father merrily took the money and did what he paid for.

Yes, in real world we call this a legal competitive strategy. You're right.

In fairness it looks like they have some nice features.. IF the N9 or whatever it's called doesn't meet expectations i'll have no hesitation in jumping.

I'm more interested in WP than Android.. or iOS for that matter

In other news, in an epic comeback, Nokia proved they had bigger Packages and named their upcoming OS as "Banana".

Re: upcoming version of windows mobile - codename: Mango

The Win 7 UI is actually very nice (IMO) -- arguably one of the nicest. It doesn't look like much in screenshots, but it has a definite quality to it. I can't really comment on the quality of apps or other aspects of the system, but the UI is quite slick.

It is, however, a bit boring to use for extended periods as it seems quite consistent across apps (again, I have limited experience). It's like seeing the same thing over and over again.

What MS did to Nokia is not even close to what they have done to others.

This deal is above board - blame Nokia's incompetence in executing the Meego strategy for falling for it. It takes 2 to tango.

As somebody who owns N900, GS, iphone 4 and have used WP7 device for a day and bought Zune HD back in the days, i really like the UI feel of WP. It's the smoothest UI i have ever used.

Though it got 3 big problems to me that are: that tile home screen, i doubt Microsoft is letting big hacking community around it and browser.
While WP multitasking is no Maemo or webos imo they have done better job implementing it to the UI than Symbian, iphone or Android on this new update.
I will certainly at some point own Windows Phone like any other mobile OS, but i have always waited at least for a year with new OS's(other than for N900).

Hey! Mango is a fashion brand for "the young, urban women."

It's also a refreshingly, delicious fruit.

Wow! I would never have imagined... "powered by Mango inside" :D

if you want to score a point - you need to do better then that.

u havent used symbian 3, symbian 3 ITS better than what mango bring to WP7.

apps runs realtime, except for videos which Get paused, still having better battery life iOS, WP7 and android

while app manager its on u can see previews of the apps running EVEN VIDEO screenshots. on Maemo u can see videos running.
