And Nokia abandoned Maemo/MeeGo.

This patent business is getting out of hand. In a month or two, someone will patent the color orange so we would have to shell out a buck or two for every orange pixel in TMO.

ya, usually one of the most prominent country likes to patent pretty much everything in the world..... including things that are naturally occurring for millions of years

Just as an aside, I found this interesting story on how Symbian came into being and almost never made it.

It also shows that Microsoft wanted to take it over too!

It's quite long, but a very informative read!

keep hatin all you want. Its like US Foreign Policy, everyone hates them but guess what they are still the top dog lol So your comment is utterly mistaken, Microsoft will have their ups and downs but they will still be there to bug the crap out of the world

yeah but am i sure microsoft still want windows phone to take over the market and outsell android because 100 buck per unit is better than 5 bucks for unit

History tells us that big empires always fall so Microsoft or the US for that matter won't last forever.

M$ is not a pioneer in any field or atleast I cannot remember, they have always copied someone else's product and then marketed in such a way that entry to barrier for others was always high. Mobiles are a different game now, they are scaling the higher barrier that Nokia set by partnering with it.

PC OS : IBM first
Spreadsheet : Lotus 123 first
Networking Novell first and with Active directory was Banyan Vines (hope I spell it correct)
Mobile : Still catching up
GUI on top of Os : Apple Mac first
Mobile phones : Still no clue what to do
Internet : Unix based first
Gaming : pretty much last
anything else that need mention?

lolz I meant the way he wrote it M and dollar sign :)

When I see that first thing that comes to my mind is 90's when Bill Gates was the richest man in the world which is no longer true. As for MS itself I like the company even more then Google
