PETITION to Abill_uk to release the full "how to" of the USB Fix and USB HOST MODE to this Community.
 

As everyone knows now Nokia have more or less ABANDONED the N900 and now it really IS down to this community to further any future development.

This thread is self explanitory to make an online Petition to abill_uk, the idea's to get abill_uk release the full "fix" of the USB problems and the USB HOST MODE, he alone discovered and perfected for our N900. INCLUDING PICTURES.

I will devote my time to further development only if i have the original source code available to me(not really i got no time), i am no way going to stab in the dark with this as the USB teams are, working almost blind with all the knowledge abill_uk keeps for himself components, quite frankly they will do a hell of a lot better armed with the full abill_uk know how of the N900 USB.

Everyone who would like to see N900 further developed please leave a post in agreement and any idea's you may have for Abill to release fully the Know How for the N900 USB problems and USB HOST MODE and for further N900 development.

If your vote is a NO could you please let us know why you voted no.

I don't get it, who is Abill_uk trying to boycott by this? Nokia? They don't give a ****, and I doubt we will have open source drivers unless someone's kind enough to write them, most likely being MAG. What does he mean by a "Solid Meego OS" ? By a Meego OS on the N900? Since I know he doesn't agree with the efforts of the Developer Edition...

what i dont get is how does he have it working... did he hack those drivers?? cause if you did read that post... he says he has it working without those drivers... or so i understand... why would he need the drivers??

DE ui is fantasy but not great..there is something but at a whole total nothing..more works has to be done.
i have got question to ask abt DE.
will there be SSU for meego updates or should i be doing the same with images as i did for DE?
willstable meego be coming up for our beloved n900??:P

no problems... just me trolling abill as i have light work today... but hey who knows he might have the "real" solutions for all the usb problems as he claims(step by step instructions on how to fix the loose usb's that affect a great deal of people, would be great).

Meego OS will not be coming to N900, there is a method to install the Developer Edition onto the EMMC but it's not recommended, it is not for end users. Simple as, if you enjoy your functions, don't do it, it will be a worse experience than Maemo (no offence intended to the Developer Edition team) but even they admit that it will only support the basic functions, and if your doing this for Apps that might one day come just got get Nitdroid.

What the bloody **** is going on in this thread?
His requests are unreasonable. There is NO open-source SGX driver available. Nokia for obvious reasons will NOT open BME. It will take a ****-tonne of time to write OSS replacements.

And the USB fix = prevention. Sand the uUSB connectors, and secure the USB port by using whatever method suits you - epoxy, hot glue, super glue, whatever. Once it's broken off and the pads are gone, as in the USB thread, either send it back to Nokia or try the debug pads under the battery.

As for hostmode -- don't we have this working already? Sure, we have to stop BME, and it's slightly buggy, but it WORKS.

the bottom line remains, we all need to move on. N900 is over.
why is it over?
coz community is exhausted, out of resources, and all the possibilities with the current situation have been met, and without open drivers for all components, there are no further possibilities for the N900, if there are, they're limited in number.
i'd suggest you all get new phones and "get over it"

Hence my "no" vote and a short summary of the only REAL solutions to the USB problem (all taken from the big USB thread) . Bottom line is, if people couldn't figure out how to repair it (even with the debug pads-usb-rerouting) they might as well bring it to Nokia Care.
