[Announce] Extshortcut - shortcuts with non-standard images and sizes
 

I developed desktop-widget which allows to create shortcuts to application or bookmarks to web-pages with any images with any size. This is Extshortcut.

Look at the screenshot:
1. This another my application - Othello game :)
2. Angry birds
3. Bookmark to web-site
As you can see this shortcust has non-standard image and size. (This images is not so good as I can't to draw :)

Extchortcut has version 0.1 and big TODO list.
And I need feedback. And icon for extshortcut.

After i installed it, i went to Edit Desktop and clicked on Add Shortcut.. could not find it there, but when i selected any icon, i saw a small text saying "image" and it had settings from where i could add image..

I removed that from the desktop, but now i am not able to get it back
its not shown in All apps nor if i Edit my desktop and click on "Add Shortcut" ...

plz help !

n number of shortcuts can be done by adding this Widget ! .. guess i stuck to its name 'extshortcut' and was just looking under the add shortcut option ;)

Bug report:
When swiping if you click on the image and start to swipe it mistakes it for a click and opens the link.

I too faced that issue, but then moved the extrshorcut images upwards as i normally swap windows from bottom of the screen.. here's what i have done

You need to limit the size of image that can be used. I ended up selecting the wrong image and having a immensely huge shortcut.

agreed . same here !
selected 800x480 images and now i cant see the settings button and only i can remove it .
and i hate it when every time i add a new widget of it , previous one shows up :$

I removed my shortcut by removing the view it was on. Since I couldn't reach the "X" button. I used a 1280x800 image by mistake :S.

How does one run a shell script? Entering "/path/path/abc.sh" and choosing type "command" does not work for me. And yes the script works otherwise.

i starting to use your apps yesterday...it a very nice apps to have in our n900...it is nice but not perfect (as for me)...i wish you can add some option for the next release such as....

1.the option to resize the image/icon.....
2.make the background on the image fully transparent....
3.the option to put the name below the images/apps in the desktop (just likes a android,name below all icon)....

can't wait for your next update...

Well, this an amazing option to have re sizable click-able icons on your desktop...
I understand that the field of the widget is a polygon square/rectangle but I'd love that you loose the background black colour... I tried making the widget opacity to zero in Theme Customizer but that didn't affect your widget..

I am experimenting in photoshop where i design a layout and a wall paper that works tightly with the icons... like having reflections for the icons and embed them in the texture...
Any of that would need an widget with no black background..

the behavior of the app is also quiet weird when changing any theme settings from Theme Customizer and restarting services... everything disappears and reappear totally wrong icons and links'

Oops. Shell scripts don't support still. Options 'Command' is bug :)
But support of scripts are in my TODO list

The curved menu bar "looks like" the Plastic Dark Black theme (although I am not sure if it is it exactly that theme. Might be a copy or a hack). The menu icon looks different.

Regarding curving the menu bar.. its the theme that i use

I had Windows 7 Theme earlier ( thats where you see that wallpaper) , and then installed Android Theme, but have kept Windows 7 wallpapers.. Combination of these two themes is pretty cool !

Shall upload the icons (phone, email, sms,etc) that i have in some time

As i mentioned in the earlier post, its from Android Theme. I have a combination of Windows 7 Theme and Android Theme !

On rebooting, the extshortcuts configuration is lost. Just shows the default 'no image'.

Why do I get hideous backgrounds on my widgets created through ExtShortCut, but I don't see the same on your picture?

I note some others throughout the thread have them, but they are absent from your picture. Is it a case of finding an appropriate image for the shortcut?

<EDIT-2> Seem to have lost the ability to launch via command. Just have the Application or URL option. Is this right? I ask because I was using an ExtShortCut widget to launch the app-search-app script as the original widget it was based on (app-search-widget) appears not to support image resizing of its icon.

Launch via Command temporary disabled. I'll add this functions in next releases.

At this moment mission is impossible. Extshortcut supports only applications or web-bookmarks. Commands and menus of applications will be added in future. You can add your feature requests in extshortcut page in garage

Good news (c)
I uploaded new version of the Extshortcut. This version contains only one (but very important) feature - restoring shortcuts after device rebooting. Seems, it works (I hope on it :) )
