90 day replacement n900 warranty???
*i looked and i am sorry if this has already been posted*
my usb is on its way out... woke up today and it was dead.. forced to use backup wall mount battery charger... not the end of the world but inconvience... i called nokia and they said my device was out of warranty... my replacement came in last oct.. has anyone successfully recieved a replacement of a replacement after 90 days? or is the escalation proccess going to be a waste of my time... i am rather disgusted that a well documented problem is still occuring and the fact that they wont hand out a 1 yr with replacement as they would with new device... am i asking for too much? i am located in the states... i dont know if that makes a difference thank you for your time reading this post/rant |
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
I don't think we've heard this 90-day number before. You might try to discover where it is in writing.
I'm sure that we in general encourage you to keep trying to get Nokia to fix this. I have been using a separate charger for years and find it MORE convenient, not less, but there are other reasons to use the usb port. |
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
it sounded a little shady when the lady kept putting me on hold every 5 seconds... at this point if i cant find a fix then hassling customer service would make me feel better...
after reviewing what you said about the port... i agree with your position... ill keep you posted with what nokia says... i looked in the shipping materials that were sent to me to make sure i didnt over look any paper work with details due to excitement... but i discovered nothing.. |
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
I find it odd with the USB port issue. I have had my N900 since release. I plug it into the charger every night and use it on PC alott at work etc. Never had a USB port issue. But I will admit once people announced it I have always carefully aligned the cable prior to inserting it.
In regard to a replacement I used to work as a tech in a retailer and we used to have great difficulty with Nokia under warranty. They were only good for dead on arrival. So I don't know how well that will work. However I'm in Australia so it could be based on region. Oh and on another note I made the mistake of getting the N97 on launch the GPS worked for about 2 months I had such a battle to repair it I gave up. Bought a replacement case fitted it myself and used copper for the antenna. N97 was awful I only fixed it cause my girlfriend seems to like it haha. But yeah Nokia in my experience don't believe their products can have flaws. |
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
In Finland I've had nothing but very lenient experiences with getting my Nokia phones fixed by Nokia care.
My N900 USB broke, got an entirely new N900. My 5800XM touchpanel broke, they fixed it. My earpiece in my N900 broke 2 times and 3 times on my 5800XM. All fixed with no other questions asked besides if my devices were in warranty. Edit: And about the 90-day warranty: I've heard of no such thing, and can say for a fact that such a warranty doesn't exist for Nokia devices at least in Finland. That must be a very regional thing. |
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
Unless it's in writing - and I'm going to assume you're in the USA since you're having probs, whereas other nations truly aren't having that much of a problem... imagine that - I'd have to say this is false.
You should look over your documentation that was around your past RMA and see if there's anything that points to that 90 day statement. But I'll be honest. I'm not too surprised. Nokia USA's support is perhaps the absolute worst support I've ever encountered. |
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
i tried to relocate (previous user post) an email from tech support that had no clue what the phone was about... along the lines of saying the phone didnt come with a stylus and recommended another product... i hope i was just talking to a person who has no idea what she was talking about...
if the warranty is infact only 90 days instead of a year on replacement devices ill feel like i was done dirty.... its the weekend and with the 24to48 hour business day call back period i could be looking at answers next week haha |
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
Atleast for my replacement device in .fi, it came with a paper certificate that my IMEI has changed, and that the warranty is the same as for the original device's warranty. That is, the warranty on my original device expires November 2011, so the replacement device's warranty also expires November 2011.

Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
thank you for confirming my suspicion that nokia was giving me the run around... i hope now that the warranty policy is universal worldwide... my piece of paper had the date and imei plus a a description of my phones damage... nothing about warranty details

Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
So can't you pretend it never went through repair/warranty, and just present the original proof of purchase, or did they steal that from you during repair?
|
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
They'd have his original phone and the new phones IMEI numbers in their database. Its not meant to be easy to cheat haha
|
Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
How would it be cheating?

Re: 90 day replacement n900 warranty???
somehow the call went straight to voicemail but the lady was really hard to understand... think her mic was too close to her mouth...
what i could gather is she only told me my 1 year warranty was up so my replacement device was out of warranty when the original expired... lovely... |
