Can a bluetooth headset be used with Skype
 

Does anyone know if a blutooth headset can be used with the N800 for Skype connections? And if so which type of headset? I tried to connect an Ericsson bluetooth headset but it was not possible to do so.

Last word was that bluetooth headsets don't work with the N800 -- yet.

Well since this original post - os2008 was out , and things chnaged. I used to be able to conduct a call using my bluetooth headset. however recently - it dosnt work any longer, I mean ,I do see the headset connecting to the N800 and a blue icon appears - but no sound travels to the headset.

My Jawbone works fine with my N800 using OS2008.

My Motorola H375 BT headset works fine with Skype

pardon, how can I tell which version of maemo did I flesh?
uname -r : 2.6.21-omap1
where to get that skype? my is skype_1.7.62.48.2_armel.deb

You can check the IT version through Control Panel->About.

Also you could try loading built in media player and playing some audio files. The same thing happened to me a few times where my bluetooth headset was connected but the sound was not redirected. This seemed to help (atleast in my case).

Also from within Application Manager, you could try running "Tools->Refresh Application List" menu. Then check the update section whether skype appears as an update.

my bluetooth headset works fine on latest os2008 however if u bluetooth to a phone and to a headset the quality of skype sounds like your under water lol

After reading this thread thought I'd give it a try - and found my Moto H3 worked not only with Skype but all system audio was routed it.

It also change the top toolbar sound icon from a speaker to a picture of a headset.

And yes - just like the last post, the person on the other end of the skype call reported the audio quality via the headset was worse than the standard hardware.

(running latest skype and latest 2008 os on an N800).

I'd like to buy this iTech Clip IIs headset. Primarily because it's cheap & it should do everything I want - supports AD2P & voice calls & uses earbuds (I need the earbuds, I can't stand anything pressing against my earlobes for long periods). My question is, should this work with Skype too (aha! there, you see, you didn't thnk I was staying on topic, did yah?! :))
