Conversations Messed Up in many ways!!

ive been having a conversations problem from the start. n900 is not a good phone for texting. Ok so it has various problems. sometimes when im texting a contact, it shows me no name in conversations. the name dissapears and its black but messages are there. sometimes the conversation of a specific contact dissapears and when i reboot, it starts coming, sometimes it doesnt come at all unless i delete all my conversatiosn and reboot. and sometimes it doesnt show my last sent message and is stuck on one last message. sometimes i dont get people's texts and get em after hours. this is only with my n900.i had other phones before with massive texting and no problem. its just with this phone. is there a permanent fix for this or any help would be apprecviated. thanks :)

conversations deleting automatically help. when i get texts from one contact, my conversation gets stuck and doesnt revieve more messages.
edit: jedi please read the post before you post comments. you are annoying seriously.

Once again Zurrain/yasirrfc: cross-posting sucks. Stop doing it.

If you don't get an answer, be patient. If a couple of days passes, maybe bump it. If you still don't get an answer then it's very likely a 'unique' problem and probably a result of your own 'tinkering' with the device - if you can't undo it, re-flash it.

I did read your post. It was exactly the same as the other thread you started only 3 hours before. These forums are chaotic enough without people posting the same thing over and over.

You will also get very fragmented replies which will be very hard to follow.

EDIT: For more info, have a read of the rules

Re: Conversations stuck

If somehow you find yourself in an unfortunate situation where a conversation just putters down to an awkward near silence, and seemingly stuck, simply take a deep breath and relax... avoid vocalizing with 'uhhh' and 'ahhh's just to keep some noises going, silence is sometimes okay.

Think back whether you've given enough time for your partner to speak, and ask them what they thought of the conversations you've just had, or their day, or the weather.

Or you can simply look down and tinker with the n900 that you've been holding with your two hands on your lap and ignore the other party.

Hey , zurrain ! I too had the same problem ! what i realised is this happens when u underclock your N900 to 250Mhz .... But it works fine on 600mhz ..... So setting the CPU frequency to default 600mhz will solve your problem , as far as i know .

cheers !

Consider this thread where I had a similar issue and subsequently resolved it.

...and play nice.

@zurrain101

i also have this kind of problem before but i figure out how to fix it...it works on me'hopes it works on you too...

first regarding contact name in conversations...
this problem is cause by two thing...
1.the contact number = the best way to fix this to add +6 infront on the contact number...
2.call notify = if you have install this then disable the vibrate notification

second regarding you conversations disappearing...
this cause by two thing...
1.to many conversations in your phone = delete old conversation in your phone...if suddenly your conversation disappear then quickly reboot...
2.call notify = again disable the vibrate notication...

mostly this problem is cause by call notify...i disable the vibrate notification...i don't know if my method works on you or not but just try it anyway...

Re: Conversations Messed Up in many ways!!

I strongly suggest trying my suggestion before pusak_gaog's suggestion, because mine is non-destructive and reversible.

Huh? That might be half-right if you're in Malaysia (county code is +60) or Australia (+61) or wherever else the international dialling code starts with 6, but it's 100% not going to help anywhere else as you'll end up texting or dialing an international number that:
  1. almost certainly isn't owned by whoever you actually want to text or dial
  2. may or may not exist
  3. will prevent Contacts from identifying incoming texts or calls from that person's number as being from that person
  4. is wrong ;)

Possible, but doesn't seem likely. Any links or further info to back up that theory?

Try the technique which fixed a very similar issue for me instead. It's less destructive (you get to keep your messages) and it actually worked for me.

Still not convinced by the whole vibrate-causes-conversations-to-get-messed up idea. I think it was a coincidence. Your deleting old conversations is much more likely to have had an effect.

i use to enable the vibrate notification on call notify but every time i received a call/text i dont usually read it instantly so i put the vibrate notify delay by 2 minutes so after two minutes it will vibrate to notify me there is a call/text coming...i notice if the incoming call/text i read it instantly then i got no problem but if i left it more than 10 minutes then it will cause a problem...that why i disable it...after i disable it i got no disappearing conversations anymore...

like i said before...it might not works on your phone but it wont kill you if you try it ;)

Ho hum... http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1042154

Why not follow up on some of the advice given last time you started multiple threads with the same problem?

He said follow up, as "write what you tried, and post results". Understand the entire post before answering.
Thank you.

Also I fail to see what is worth a new thread here.

If it doesn't fix your problem, post details and we will try to help you further. If you want further explanation of any piece of it, ask, and I or someone will step in and explain as best we can. It's free tech support. Or don't post further details, and we won't be able to help you.

Your call.

Wow - hope they fix it!

They'll probably flash it, which will probably fix the problem which was probably a corrupt database. Shame - you could've done it yourself in 5 minutes if you'd have followed the advice.

Anyway, whatever - it's your choice.

It might be nice to at least acknowledge the fact that some nice people here have been trying to help you, and maybe possibly even say 'thanks'?

Indeed. Not a single "thanks" from him in the entire thread (as of the time of me writing this) and I counted at least 4 people trying to help him out.

So you've got your phone back after a warranty repair in a record of ONE DAY! Wow - that's impressive stuff.

So now are you going to follow up on the suggestions that these kind people have made?

Yeah, insulting the ones "in-the-know" works out every time. First two rules for you (should i call you "yasirrfc" by the way?) should be:

1) do not touch what you don't understand
2) do not spam about what you don't understand
