I don't have a N950, but in N900 the messages are stored here:
Code:

/home/user/.rtcom-eventlogger/el.db

If your not why do you care?

Really now? I'd be *very* surprised if you actually get your hands on a *genuine* N950. You might get your hands on a cheap knock off... but if you do, it'll not work the same, and so you'll be on your own(if it's even possible).

since you have a device, why don't you do a bit of experimentation and research and post the results here because we don't have one.

Robbie, as you're the developer of BackupMenu which to me implies a bit less tolerance for useless stuff, I'm sort of surprised at you getting involved in a clearly pointless discussion. "I got", barring a typo, implies that I already have the device, no ifs or buts about it. We've even exchanged a few lines on IRC about the device, I'm macmaN on #maemo #meego-arm and whatnot, although I guess it doesn't show on tmo profile.

http://www.meetup.com/Helsinki-MeeGo...ents/22145651/ for details, I am Leho Kraav there, can we just drop this now?

Yep of course. If there was 3 of me I probably would've figured it all out already. Just that my plate is *very* full right now as it is with starting a new business and loads of other FOSS product patches etc. Adding transferring all sorts of mobile phone databases in this case isn't too trivial considering Harmattan doesn't even have most apps yet that I've been using on N900, so I was just a guy looking for some info re this particular thing.

Jaffa started http://wiki.meego.com/Migrating_from_N900_to_N950 so I'm pretty sure something will end up there finally, even if it ends up being a community developed transfer app. It'd kinda make sense for Nokia to come up with a migration path though for N9 launch..

, along with the fact that you're asking a question without any information, and figured it related to http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=74533

Re: Transfer N900 Conversations database to N950 Messages - possible?

One little tidbit of info. On the N900, the SyncML client doesn't support the transfer of messages. The Symbian SyncML client does. This means message transfer from N900 -> N9/N950 doesn't work. It sounds like this would be a nice feature for someone to enable, through one mechanism or another.

Thanks jolo! I tested the transfer myself from N900 to N950 and SMS transfer was NOT shown as an option, so I figured that it is not possible. You confirmed that finding.

Hartti you can use Ovi Suite to sync messages from N900 -> computer, then computer -> N9

I'd love to get a cheap knock-off... where? A higher quality KIRF would be ideal, though, especially if I could install Maemo or MeeGo on it...

Re: Transfer N900 Conversations database to N950 Messages - possible?

I was able to sync SMSes via Ovi Suite ...

anidel 2011-10-19 23:09

Re: Transfer N900 Conversations database to N950 Messages - possible?

How did you do that? Ovi Suite doesn't recognize the N9/N950

I too want to know how to transfer SMS messages from N900 to N9. So far I have not found any means to do that.

N9 is not supported by OVI Suite! Obviously you have not tried this yourselves. Any other ideas?

Re: Transfer N900 Conversations database to N950 Messages - possible?

Um, N900 is supported by Ovi suite...
That's why he suggests transferring to PC from N900, & then transferring from PC to N9 "manually".

I can't recall the process off-the-top-of-my-head. If I have time later, I'll try to dig-it-up.

Re: Transfer N900 Conversations database to N950 Messages - possible?

What does it mean: transferring from PC to N9 "manually"? Could someone be more specific? Show me the actual steps how to get the messages from N900 to N9.

Re: Transfer N900 Conversations database to N950 Messages - possible?

I already need to import the SMS messages from my N95 to the N9, too. There were no good solution at the N900.

So a general import solution for the N9 would be great.
