Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

Nobody has started a poll on this straight forward question yet. Inform me otherwise.

I'd have started this as a petition, but I think it's better to just voice out your opinion rather than give pressure to a company; besides, you don't need to love or hate Nokia to vote, just vote for/against a device like N950 in the market.

Don't ask me for the purpose and meaning of the poll and what can it achieve if it turns out to be something. If you've to ask, you probably don't need to vote. However, you're still welcome to post your opinion below.

I create a third option for those who don't have an opinion but are obliged to vote for any psychological reason.

Please note that the poll is not anonymous.

Thanks.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

Sorry, I voted no. I love my N900, I've had it since Nov 09 and will keep using it for as long as it keeps on working.
But, I disagree with Nokia's current strategy and would have stayed with them if Meego was going to be supported and developed. They have chosen to disrespect their N900 buyers (in my opinion)...the very people who would have given them the most vocal support (look at the smartphone championship as an example) so I choose to take my business elsewhere.
I have no idea what my next phone will be but the N900 has given me the time to wait and see what's coming.

I'm saying "No" a) I'm getting one through MeeGo.com DDP. b) I'd rather the N9 as it has more features (NFC).

Voted no, but that may change if/when meego.com MeeGo runs well on it.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

That's okay, and good. I voted yes simply because I'd like to see some progress, no matter how little it is. I'm the 'shutup and please take my money for a Meego device with hw keyboard" kind. ;)

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

I'll be getting one through DDP but would buy N950 rather than N9 since I want a HW keyboard.

I would buy one also, if I wouldn't be getting one through DDP :)

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt so far, but I have my reservations and the keyboard may not able to overcome them: At the moment I can't see myself choosing to live without desktop widgets, and I can't see myself choosing to support Nokia on yet another device they have announced they have on intention of continuing with. If community access and software support is as good as it has been with the N900, then probably yes, I would.

I voted yes, because I would like one. Will not ba able to get one via the Meego device progran because I'n not a developer.:D

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

Since this option was not presented, I went with a yes, though I meant a "maybe".

Put it this way... I wouldn't mind getting it an year or two after its launch, when most bugs have been identified and/or weeded out, and have it covering for my N900 for some time.

The thing is... Maybe I'd buy the N950, I'd say that's actually likely, once the high launch prices have dropped... But there's simply no freaking way in hell I'm buying the N9. Period.

That's where I stand.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

No way I'd ever again buy a Nokia phone.

I love my N900 - i really do. I love having a real Linux-Device, a real X-server, a real and precices Touchscreen.
And because of Nokia's brain-dead stategies and announces which imho killed all sensible efforts to produce software for this device and thus effectively bricked this expensive phone this hurts.

I recently switched over to Android, and frankly it sucks compared to Maemo (and I miss the keyboard) - but there are tons of applications that do the job, and that's what a (and me) user needs.

As promising as the N9 or N950 are - they are just promises and Nokia broke several of it's promises in the past. What good are great devices that won't be supported by it's manufacturer on the long run?

So: no, I wouldn't buy it.

No offense, just my two cents. I certainly won't sell my N900 ;-)

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

Yes because I want a keyboard. A phone with a keyboard is like a computer tiny (like the N900).

A phone with no keyboard is like a Iphone. When you press a key on the screen with your finger, if they are big it always press 2 key at the same time, you loose screen. A phone without a keyboard is like a phone note a computer.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

In March I posted the thread "My dream linux device".

N950 is very close to realize my dream and some of its features really exceed my expectations, though a resistive screen is ideal.

I really need it to do my work everyday although only capacitive screen is available!

I truly don't understand why they don't put is for sale or put it available thru this comunity for people who are willing to pay for it.... just don't understand:(

I guess it is just a small batch of test devices that were produced before Elop pulled the plug. Nokia is giving/loaning them to the community. IMO Nokia is being nice, they could have just destroyed them.

Not sure I agree with the being nice part, but your assumption on the small batch would make lot's of sense.

Yes.

I have been spoiled by the n900 and can't really see anything else that takes my fancy on the market.

I voted yes. I'm getting one through the DDP, but honestly, if any company puts MeeGo devices on the market, particularly smaller ones, I'll be buying them.

Although it probably would not change the numbers much, I think that developers that voted no because they have one or will be getting one should base their decision on the assumption that the n950 is not available to them. One the otherhand if you prefer the n9 or some other phone or company that is ok and you should vote no. What might be even more interesting is if you were a developer that has one and concluded, based on your experience with it, that you would not buy it... Fat chance!

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

I wanted something just like the n900 but better: n950 isn't it.
I can start to live without the IR for instance, but the capacitive screen kinda killed me. I would like to know some feedback of someone running easy debian using the capacitive screen if/when it be installed.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

harmattan seems to be a "portraitmode" OS. so I dont see that big reason to have hwkbd.

also N9 seems too have better HW and buildquality. If I want hwkbd I still will have my old n900 :D

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

i would love to be able to wait for a bit for the price to drop if it was selling to the general public of course. I will be getting the a newer phone sooner or later due to the needed spec but honestly no 4G in the n9 or the n950 is quite upsetting. Our phones are becoming more used for internet and typing than they are for actual phone use.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

Would never buy another N series phone. I went to iPhone 4 on my recent trip because n900 sucked so bad in reception and maps and no provisioning for my work emails, that I had to go to my trusty iPhone

qole applied for, and was accepted to receive, a DDP N950, so your wish should be granted in the not too distant future.

Yes in a heartbeat... however if i saw them side by side it might be a more difficult decision as the n9 is a beautiful looking device!

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

While i would prefer a keyboard, i still voted no.
Love my n900, but i'm about ready for a completely finished phone with at least a little post purchase support.
Hopefully the n9 will fill that void.

No. If it had specs matching the N9 + the extras that come with the N950 then I would buy it without a doubt

Cool! So my desire to acquire a n950 will depend on the outcome of the judgement of qole about how responsible is the n950 screen in comparison with the n900 in regards of precision!
(I don't know why, but I sound in this paragraph as if I were with my pinky close to my mouth as Dr Evil used to do |:P )

No - What I want is my N900 with dual core CPU, Flash 10.x and slightly bigger sceen. Love my stylus and every thing else.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

I vote yes. I'm not a developper, but I currently using N900 and it's great device. My next phone must be a linux based device with at least 1GHz CPU, must have camera with autofocus and HD recording and QWERTY keyboard of sure. Ideal for me? N9 with hw qwerty and stylus. I'm afraid my N900 is unfortunately my last nokia device:mad:

Your link is broken and I wouldn't buy N950 anywhere, because its so unlikely that someone would be really selling it.

Re: Would you buy N950 if it is available for purchase?

yes
a NOKIA N950 or, maybe preferably, a customer oriented MeeGo device (with hardware keyboard) from any other company.

'til then, two N900s will (have to) do.

so long and thanks for all the fish NOKIA
