Has Nokia also managed to hide a tablet out there, and is doing viral marketing under the name Tabco?

I guess I shouldn´t unwrap my Ipad 2 until at least next month when we find out if this is HP or Nokia.

It appears to be a viral marketing campaign that would like to capture Nokia customers and others, but there is no reason to think it is Nokia itself.

Meaning July-August

Meaning not soon, so probably next year.

Seems like the Win8 presentation, where your desktop is like a canvas with HMTL5 and stuff.

Most people never heard of Mamemo/Meego, but everyone knows about Windows, and a lot of people like it.

Why did you remove the photo of your CEO from your website?

We had to take his photo down because we heard Chuck Norris was designing a tablet device, as well, and wouldn’t want him identifying our CEO. You can only imagine what would happen if Chuck found out our CEO made a better a tablet than him. It would be curtains!

It's not nokia, its located in the states. Seems like a new company trying to fill a tiny gap in the tablet marketing with hot air and c0ckyness and creative marketing, gotta give 'em that. Their site seems so unprofessional though..

And yes it could be an existing major hardware producer creating a new brand for obvious reasons like the company's image.

Their OS could be various but I bet it's not iOS or Android..

Could be webOS considering it will come to other hardware vendors, could be MeeGo too since it too is very new and 'swipey'.

Look at me copying tabco already with all this hot air I'm spewing :D better not rant on.. cheers.

Nokia has had a habit of making amazing looking sites for even some minor hyping up stuff.
I especially remember that event year or two ago that had this timer running down and this amazing flash site with codes to crack and games that you needed to unlock to get these crazy videos supposedly hinting something.

...it ended being some Tshirts for the winners who answered right on the puzzles. :D


I don't know the videos and site does not scream Nokia to me, it could be anything. There's nothing really hinting towards Nokia other than couple of Nokia related people following them on twitter.....

Don't know if it's anything relavent but the company address for is (also?) in Washington State. Info from www.whois.com - they kinda asked us to do that search, right?

think it will have a swipe UI kinda like N9, Nokia was clear that would live on but would not say in what form?
Nokia have been talking a lot about not releasing just another tablet and being the 201st with nothing new and will look to bring something different to the market unlike the other 200, TabCo seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet as Nokia.

I have high hopes for this *not* being a MS shill project. Why?
Try going to a 404'd page on that site. You'll see they're eunning Ubuntu. That's actually a fairly rare server OS - You'd expect Debian, CentOS, RHEL or *shudder* MS Windows Server/IIS.

If the company was a MS company, you bet they'd be running IIS, because their devs would know it. And if they were trying to fake people out, they'd probably use, say, CentOS. Not Ubuntu.

Another thing that's caught my eye is the Canvas UI they talk about on TabCo b/c maemo 6/ harmattan was meant to originally have Canvass desktop the same
as you can see stated in these slide shows below.

If its Nokia I think we could see Harmattan on a tablet but with Homescreen Like the original Canvas Harmattan one for smartphones.

I don't believe for a sec that we will see MeeGo tablet from Nokia and W8 tablet is way too early to be announced yet. It would be in Nokia World in October at earliest and even that would be too early imo.

Personally don't still see any reason for this being Nokia rather than any other well known mobile company or some unknown. I would love to see Nokia's take on tablets be it MeeGo, Harmattan or W8.

I dont think it would be marketed as MeeGo like N9 b/c there was a big battle to get that branded, so the no more MeeGo products could still stand true even if they release a tablet based Harmattan. Wishful thinking but no harm in dreaming.

You could say it looks like Android, Maemo 5, or s60v5. if your basing what it looks like is from seeing widgets.

What is funny about this is that 99% of the blogs think it might be Nokia so if it's not Nokia(like i think is the case) they have failed on their marketing if it's the likes of Motorola.
Though if it's some small company then they are doing great work at getting attention that they would not get otherwise.

They are big, they have hardware (well core technology), software as well.

At the other hand: WeAreTabCo sounds so much like WeAreMaemo. The choice of colors is also intersting. Black background + red remind me of the opposite of Nokia logo colors.

So this company is either Nokia itself, or someone trying to negate it.

Unless this is a hoax, thumbs up for the EPIC title!

I think Nokia made Ovimaps for MeeGo allready, why not publish tablet with MeeGo also. Win8 is not ready for it.

In website there was told that they tell more in couble weeks.

are you serious? open your damn iPad. If this is nokia it will takes years to reach customers. First, you have to wait for announcment for...let say 9 month and after that another 4 month until you can grab it in the store. At the time your ipad will look like an ipad from 1992.
