"not enough app space???" [SOLVED]

For the past week I have not been able to update or install any apps. I get the message "not enough space" and it asks me to remove apps. I've removed lots and now I even have space in memory, however it still doesn't let me install anything, not even something as small as 1kb.

I don't have rootsh installed nor do I have the fast app manager. How do I solve this problem?

Re: "not enough app space???"

The HAM does know little about linux ;) ! The limitations you are facing are the reserved blocks in a Linux file-system on the partition /dev/mmcblk0p2, where /home is.

Do you use Nitdroid to clutter this space? Or do you have some large files in /home/user, that would be possible to go to /home/user/MyDocs? To analyse, please post the output file of
Code:

du -ax /home | sort -n > /home/user/MyDocs/du.txt
Note there is no small L in the command but a 'pipe' symbol.
This command will list the files and folders under /home sorted by the size of them, and writes the output not onthe screen, but in a file called for du.txt in your MyDocs folder. Please attach the file to the next posting.

Ditto with me. I just use Faster Application Manager with no problems.

you have basiclly around 2Gb of space for installation (apps/games n etc) on you n900...the easy way to find how much you got left is by installing FAM (faster application manager) cause this apps will automatic show you how much space left in...

1.opt
2.rootfs

now if you unable to install FAM due to not enough space then try using xterm & type....

root
apt-get autoclean
apt-get autoremove

this command is use to clean & free some space by removing useless files that have been left by ordinary HAM...

From the looks of the file, you have two major space hogs. One is e-mail, the other is fmms. Delete some mail and/or some fmms messages and install fap. You really should install ssh and/or rootsh as well, so that you have a way to repair things as root if you need to later.

Quote:

1081940 /home/user/.modest = 1G of mail!
177944 /home/user/.fmms = 180M of MMS
I wouldn't bother removing apps unless you aren't using them any more.

Re: "not enough app space???"

yea i deleted my accounts...i think i'll add back 1 account after i fix everything...the MMS is taking forever to delete since it has to be done one by one? also i had FAP installed before and it wasn't running properly so i uninstalled it...i'll give it a try again.

Re: "not enough app space???"

HAM will not install anything but updates if /home is over 90% full. If you have default 2gb for /home you need 200mb+ free.
