Format N900 By WinSCP
 

hi there!
I Just wanna to ask, if i formated my n900 with WinSCP by accessing root... then flashed my phone with new FIASCO image... it will be formatted perfectly? or it will die?
because i have many problems with flashing EMMC VANILLA version
i think you know it ;) "su_get_update_status_req terminated with error code 1"
please help! :(

Don't do that, it is a one way fat32 rocket to oblivion.

If you want a factory reset n900, use the flasher.

If you wanna flash the phone, it has to be connected via cable. Otherwise, the phone won't be able to connect to the device using the flasher resulting in a bricked phone.

I tried flashing on win 7 32, win xp 32, ubuntu and i get the same result... :(
this error only happens with EMMC image... i downloaded many versions.. but nothing happen
i can't connect my n900 to pc as mass storage, i can't format it..
i know that is not a hardware damage.. because i can copy files over my memory.. and it saves my data.. but i can't format it..
i just ask.. i can install ubuntu on my n900 on the SD card, if i did... i can see the internal as external memory... so can i format it? or it will damage phone?

What the hell mass storage mode have to do with flashing? You need to be on flashing mode. Please, read "flashing the firmware" on wiki, and You'll be good to go.

but i did.. and i read the wiki closely.
i tried win 7, xp , ubuntu 32 bit.. but i still have the problem. :confused:
read my message to nokia support in the attachments, and u will know what i have done with this problem :rolleyes:

u mean restore backup, or u mean another?
I didn't find flash option in backupmenu
please tell me more about that..

backupmenu is a program and can be found in the devel repo in HAM or FAM as long as you have the repo enabled

Flashing N900 is very easy if you follow exactly the step below:
1. power down your n900
2. hold the u key while plugin the usb until the dimmed nokia logo with usb icon on top right is shown, now you can release the u key.
3. open up command prompt in windows and type in "flasher-3.5 -F <emmc.bin> -f" without quote and wait around 1 min. until it finish then unplug the usb cable and remove cover and battery and put them back in then repeat just step 2.
4. In command prompt type in "flasher-3.5 -F <fiasco.bin> -f -R" without quote and wait like 3 mins until it reboot the phone and the welcome screen should show up. At this point, you just finished flashing your phone and return it to its factory state.

ps. replacing <fiasco.bin> & <emmc.bin> with the actual filename.

but it is the problem!
i cannot flash EMMC image.. just FIASCO image only.
i get this error "su_get_update_status_req terminated with error code 1"

Look at my message to nokia support, and u will know what i've done to solve this problem.. and failed
message attached in attachments
