We need new convenient portrait keyboard
 

Is it possible to have convenient portrait virtual keyboard on next CSSU updates? Opera's virtual keyboard is a good example :)
i believe many n900 user want it so much thanks :)
can someone effort it..?? MohammadAG work on it please -_-

thats what i would like to have too:
a virtual keyboard that is optimized for landscape and portrait mode.
if the developer of ukeyboard would continue working on it....
because a new virtual keyboard needs a lot of work.
even if there are thousands of alternative keyboards for Android available.......

Opera keyboard doesn't appeal to me at all. I think the n9 keyboard could be good, since it is made for both orientations. I also beleive that devs said that they are NOT going to work on new keyboard, since there is a decent alternative - FastSMSEvo, which i find quiet good. I hope I am wrong with those assumptions.

my biggest problem with FastSMSEvo and mce is that it takes too long for the keyboard to show. I was wondering if it is possible to overwrite/rewrite the builtin keyboard completely, like with the camera-ui.

It doesn't take too long for me. once you've rebooted the device, it does, but then all goes fine

my problem with fastsmsevo is it sits there chewing a bit of memory even when it's not doing anything or is it just my device? :)

no, that's not true. Fastsmsevo has like 4 languages plus those who has similar letters to latin, like german with umlauts, finnish and so on.

i think the original portrait keyboard is better than any portrait keyboards, like smsevo, fastsms, and portrait keyboard, ive tried them all and removed it, we're really need a better portrait keyboard, if it takes a lot of work, i can wait and donate for that..! :D

thing we do need a better virtual keyboard. the gingerbread keyboard is pretty good i think. but landscape wise i dont care since i use physical as its faster for me, is the current keyboard locked down that we can't even make a replacement?

My proposal: we install a packege, for example, keyboard-power.
And in options checkboxes where it should appear: portrait and landscape. So we can use the old kbd, have a new on landscape only etc.

do u know that maliit doesnt work , it doesnt replace default vkb.
Anyway butaca runs good only miss one thing option cant show any thing while u are viewing movies in detail ( i know my english is suck )

You could rewrite the plugin that launches the default vkb and point it instead to maliit.

Fastsmsevo does that and source for fastsmsevo is open.

That & a sort of basic C knowledge should lead you to maliit working as default vkb.

I don't know probably they are busy with something else? and btw it's not just changing the path it's more of modifying a dbus calls.

maliit it works on apps not in converstation, honestly better using native vkb. Maliit its still far behind as default vkb
edit : uninstall maliit now i cant use vkb on 3rd apps.
Anyone know how to fixit
