Nokia is really beyond any hope.

Just when I thought that Nokia could not sink any lower. They are replacing the classic Nokia tune with this. My 5 year old niece makes better tunes with her plastic Mattel piano.

Seriously. That's the thing to power next 100 million. To replace the perharps most well known tune in the planet. No hope what so ever. Unbelievably idiotic. Nokia couldn't be more clueless even if it tried. Sell what ever shares you have left. Elop has found a new stupid gear.

Seriously. Dubstep?

I ****ing hate dubstep. It's garbage as music, worse as a ringtone.

We are starting to see the effects of long term drug abuse.

Just say no to drugs kids or you will become like Nokia when you grow up

Me and many people here have been angry about Nokia not putting any effort or resources into Maemo/meego marketing....

Be careful what you wish for. These ****ing idiots might actually suddenly show up to do some marketing and destroy what ever credibility Maemo/Meego has left.

anonymous 2011-10-10 22:21

Re: Nokia is really beyond any hope.

Am I missing something? Dubstep is in 5th place in terms of facebook likes. How did it win? There's one with 39,000 votes, but let's go with dubstep guy who only got 1000?

And you guys can totally calm down, it's an optional ringtone, not a default one.

I just hope they don't show up on our doors and try to destroy our Maemo/MeeGo running devices.

I'd fight to the end for my N900 :D

Apparently those are the guys that are responsible for it. Go get'em.

They are Not replacing the Classic Tune, the new one and old one will be pre-loaded alongside eachother.

Lot of people are getting the wrong idea thinking its being replaced.
even if it was being replaced whats it matter the current tune is about the 5th one they have had, the tune as been updated many times just people never noticed

Of course it changed for the better. Would you prefer listening to a monophonic melody on your N9???

It's going to be the default ringtone.

That is one of the dumbest marketing decisons ever. There's absolutely no excuse for doing something as absurd as this. Minor detail maybe, but one that shows how all talent has left Nokia. Error like this should have been stopped at some point in the decision making process.

When you buy a Nokia phone, the preloaded one is default, unless you change it. I bet even their boot video will use this crap and they will eventually change the connecting people boot video.

there is many pre-loaded, pre-loaded does not mean the one that is set out the box.
The original Tone is not going away its just getting a sidekick, you guys need to fix up and get better lives if stupid things like a ringtone is too much for you to handle.
I can't wait for a Nokia dubstep tone on my 1.4GHz SeaRay and Sabre

Re: Nokia is really beyond any hope.

lol... tbh there are a lot of nice dubstep tunes out there... it's a pity though that this genre gets (or already is) destroyed by such **** producing people like skrillex or this new nokia tune.

Holy ****, Super 8 & DJ Tab, there goes THEIR credits. Isn't it enough that the absurd non-musical wobble bassline for hoodied, tattooed wannabe badass spliffheads already crept into some trance productions, where it doesn't belong? Give me real dub (old WordSound productions like Crooklyn Dub Consortium) or breaks / techstep / true D'n'B, but not this shitty hype style... and I've listened to enough of that lameass stuff in clubs, so.... *grrr*

I think the title of this thread should be changed to fit the OMG, WTF ringtone winning entry... but yeah, I had to check my calendar... yep, not April 1st, so the end must be near... yikes.

Edit: on second thought, maybe this will be uncovered as some kind of insider rebellion, judge gone rogue, or possibly just on the rock, heading off to rehab shortly :D

I did, and I like the one that's on my N8 (4th one?).... I dislike the new Nokia Tune (that's on Belle and N9).. And I HATE the "dumb"step sh*t.

Damn it, I should've entered the competition with that tune, I would've easily won the $10,000. :D

Re: Nokia is really beyond any hope.

A fitting sonic epitaph to the current Nokia mismanagement,
merely need to relabel it:

....... Nokia Trainwreck .....

which fairly well sums up their corporate direction
since they bought into the M$ religion.

Seriously, what would you think of someone
whose nokia went off with this ringpiece shrieking from a pocket?

Can you even imagine a Nokia sales kiosk
with this cacophony being repeated endlessly throughout the day?
There would probably be some blowback from that sort of torment.

there is good dubstep

YET they pick most amateurish dubstep kid they find.
orchesta and progressive were better
actually all of them were better except acappela =_=

they wanted dubstep they should have asked "Gemini"

Re: Nokia is really beyond any hope.

I wouldn't really make a biggy out of some tune.
Common, there is NO tune that absolutely everyone will like, just as for any music type or song out there.
All you see here in the thread is that someone did not like the tune very much and others who shared that opinion joined in.
It does NOT mean that majority is not liking it and it especially does not mean that "nokia gone crazy" (this is NOT to say that they don't have other flaws!).
After all, the device you have allows you to set ANY tune yo wish to be ANY notification you wish. Have your own whistling, or whatever sound you could think of to do the job (you can actually use the very device to record it ;o) )
