[Announce] Football Live Scores

2 Attachment(s)
Hey folks,

So I've been doing some development with the Qt SDK and this is my first app for the N9. It's basically a live scores app for real football (soccer) matches from top European leagues. I intend to add support for more leagues as time goes on.

It's available from the Nokia Store at http://store.ovi.com/content/214062

Screenshots attached.

EDIT: Version 1.0.3 update can be downloaded from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/48083333/rig....0.3_armel.deb
Details about the update: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1125547

Very good ... Thanks a lot for this !!! This is what I am waiting for.

A little request: Will it be possible to add live score for tennis?

Re: [Announce] Football Live Scores

some comment about your application:

When you enter in settings and want to change the update interval, the keyboard doesn't appear.

And a question:

What value for manual refresh?

I could look into this, but it'll have to be a different application since my focus for this one is football.

That's odd. I can't seem to reproduce this. It works fine on my N9. Could you try tapping in the text box a second or third time to see what happens?

I'm not entirely sure what this question means. If you'd like to manually refresh, you can press the reload button when you're in the matches view. Hope that helps.

Cool, where do you get the data from? From what web/service/API? It's refreshed at real-time?

I'm currently using the service from http://rsslivescores.com/. However, I've noticed that there are delays from time to time with regards to goal updates, so I'm still looking for affordable alternatives with proper real time updates.

I tried even to restart my phone ... but it doesn't work.

What I mean is that if you close the application, will it still be updated ? Or do I need to get it opened (multitasking)

Another thing: When there is no match for the current day, it will be better to display the schedule of the next day

I'm testing with version 1.0.1 which I uploaded to the store, but it might take a while to get published. You can however download it from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/48083333/rig....0.1_armel.deb and see if it resolves your keyboard issues.

Yes, the application will update as long as it is on the match vie after you switch to another application. If you quit the application and open it, it will still get all the match information from the beginning.

I will add this feature in a future release.

I just reproduced it. It looks like autofocusing on the control (programmatically) when the page switches does not bring up the virtual keyboard. This might be bug with QML, I'm not yet sure.

I was able to bring up the keyboard by dragging my finger across the text input area from left to right or right to left.

I'll just fix it by removing the autofocus for now. Will have to investigate as to why the virtual keyboard doesn't show with the autofocus.

EDIT: The Dropbox download link has been updated with a new build. Please try that one.

any chance to get it running on n900?

Re: [Announce] Football Live Scores

Hi!

As the developer of the (now abandoned) MobiTifo app for N900/Maemo I wish you good luck with this one! I never found a reliable, free (or cheap) and legal source of live scores, but I guess things might have evolved. What my app tried to do was also to get past results and show the league tables. Data was taken from a free source (I can't remember the name). If ever you want to add such functionality, I'll be happy to share my experience and the code.

Off topic: As I am about to renew my contract, I'll go for Android on the Samsung Galaxy Note. Unfortunately, I've come to the conclusion that it will fit me better than the N9 :(

No plans for a N900 version at the moment. Maybe in the not-too-distant future when I get some free time.

Yeah, all the commercial options seem to be very expensive for some reason. I also discovered http://www.footytube.com/openfooty/ but I sent them an email and they never replied. Ah well.

Re: [Announce] Football Live Scores

There are hes to display at this time...?

lol :p

Other then that, it's a great app.
I can see the results of the Europa league, but not from the Champions league. I think it should show at least the latest results and the upcoming matches (tables would be also very nice)

Please add Turkish and the Dutch league aswell!

Thanks!

Edit:
Some other suggestions:
* Sort the order of the goals and cards to ascending instead of descending.
* I could scroll down sooo far away :p put something that you cant scroll down untill you reach the end of the list
* Since I scrolled all the way down untill I got a white page (at the european league, since thats the one that is showing some resutls), I pressed back to go to the main menu, and entered back into the page were I was (the Europa league). It was a white page... but then I realized it was showing the white part where I left off :p
I think that if you fix the (almost) endless scrolling, that the last point will be solved aswell

I'm not the developper but I can answer:

about the word hes, it has been fixed in the new version (you can download it from a dropbox link given by the dev).

About displaying other informations when there are no matches during the day, I already asked and it will come in a next update.

LOL. That was correct the first time I typed it. Somehow, when I was making changes, I accidentally removed parts of the text. I'm also surprised it was missed during QA as well. It's fixed in 1.0.1 which should be available from the store soon.

The Dutch league is Eredivisie. I'll see if I can add the Turkish league in a future release.

I think I could add this as as an option on the Settings page.

Yeah, this just requires some tweaks to the code. I should be able to sort it out as well.

Thanks for all the feedback!

the Turkish is called: Süper Lig

I like to translate the app into Turkish and Dutch.

Thanks again! :D

Magnuslu, sad to see you move on :-(
The source you used for MobiTifo was http://www.livescore.in/.

shockr, thanks a lot for bringing a very nice and useful app to N9!
Seeing past results, future fixtures and tables are a must for a good football app from my point of view!
Having some kind of notification (for selected games), e.g. sound vibration, for goals etc. would also be very nice...

This was initially meant to be purely a live scores app, to be honest, but since there seems to be a lot of demand for these features, I'll be implementing the following in a not-too-distant future release:
- Results for the last/current week
- Fixtures for the next week
- League standings

Thanks again for all the feedback, everyone.

Thanks for your reply and the great news :-)
Regarding the live scores...
Yesterday I followed the german Bundesliga and noticed huge delays until the fixtures and goals showed up.
Unless there was some kind of temporary issue, you might indeed want to consider another source of data.
Maybe you can have a look at the previously mentioned livescores.in. They offer a free service (See http://www.livescore.in/free-livescore/) in cooperation with www.xscores.com.
Another option could be to find a company that is willing to provide the data, while getting something in return, e.g. some ads, naming/branding of the app, showing of betting rates and link to their service...

You can find further discussions regarding data sources in this thread

Re: [Announce] Football Live Scores

Hey folks,

I just finished up with version 1.0.3 which can be downloaded from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/48083333/rig....0.3_armel.deb

New features include:
* Turkish Super Lig (this was in 1.0.2 which is available from the Store but I didn't upload it here)
* Match fixtures for all leagues except UEFA Champions League and Europa League
* Standings view for all leagues except UEFA Champions League and Europa League
* Top Goal Scorers view for all leagues

I didn't implement fixtures nor standings/tables for the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League due to the fact that the competition format is different, so the data parsing is a bit more challenging in this regard. I can't promise that this will be implemented in the future, but I may give it a shot when I get the chance.

Regarding match times for the fixtures, I haven't done any timezone conversion, so these may be the local time of the location where the match is taking place. I will have to implement timezone checks in a future update.

The fixtures are shown only for the current month, which means that if there are no fixtures for the rest of the month, no fixtures will be shown until the next month begins. I hope this is reasonable enough.

I'm still testing out the combined live scores/fixtures view, so once I confirm that there are no scrolling bugs, I'll upload it to the Nokia Store.

Enjoy!

So true, but I'm not sure what nokia will do for the N9 after pr1.3.

I had the n900 last world cup, had great widgets with all games, however it was a 10 min delay for update/beep.

Can't find the app today, might be possible to adjust for euro cup.

For N900 in ovi store is GoalTime (@ovi store, Website), is not bad but doesn't have Champions, UEFA or World Cup.

I would like to have this app too for N900.

Greetings.
