All media content not seen by N9
I put my music, took some pictures and added x2 videos, the music player was working fine and pictures showed. Then somehow the device cant 'see' anything, what is going on and how can I restore it? Have I lost my photos?
If I reset how can I restore the device? I did a backup earlier but will a reset delete everything (inc backup?). Any help would be great, thanks. |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
Do you have developer mode enabled?
If so, go to terminal and run following to reset the media tracker DB: Code:
tracker-control --hard-reset |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
Thanks so much. Will try.:)
I had the same problem with my N900 I remember. This is unacceptable for a mobile. Cant believe this massive bug. edit - ha just read your linked post. edit2 - fixed, hurrah! |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
You should have said that this command erase all SMS/MMS, Mails and Contacts, I would have done a Backup before !!!
Edit : Moreover, when you restore a previous backup to get back your contacts, the mess in the music player come back also !!!!!!!!!!!! |

http://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/ I'm sure it would've been ages ago, but it's worthwhile checking the new tracker. It's unacceptable that this issue is still hanging around from the N900 days. |

Re: All media content not seen by N9
unfortunately I have to ressurect this thread... all media files are in the phone, but none of them in gallery/video/music UI... tried all of these things, gallerybugx deb, tracker-control -r, n9qtweak patch (removing Pictures folder from IgnoredDir), but nothing helped - any idea?

Re: All media content not seen by N9
huh, tried to take a screenshot, but got "Something went wrong. Screenshot could not be saved", it looks that something strange is happening... here's the manual c/p:
XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs" XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Downloads" XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs" XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs" XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Documents" XDG_MUSIC_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Music" XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Pictures" XDG_VIDEO_DIR="$HOME/" shall I try with the proper full path? btw this morning lady in the copy office after printing some pdfs from my Nokia N9 in usb mass storage mode unplugged it without clicking the "eject..." before - could it be the reason? |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
only video is incorrect...
Change it to: "$HOME/MyDocs/Videos" after this do a reboot and check whether the change actually stuck or not... The safely remove device thing is recommended but not a killer...If you are able to view them from a file manager in the device it means the emmc partition is able to mount itself... |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
thanks, but it didn't help... plus when I try to take a picture with the camera the picture is taken, I get all those status bars up and down on the taken picture with the date, name, and icons downthere, but immediately get "The camera is not responding. Try again or restart the device if the problem continues."... can't believe it...

Re: All media content not seen by N9

Re: All media content not seen by N9
I've opened the browser, went to soem page, tried to download one picture, and the got: "Can't save r00A.jpg. make sure the device has enough memory. If enough memory is available and the problem persist, the device may not be working properly. Restart it and try downloading again."...

Re: All media content not seen by N9
Is your data storage ok? Check it from settings -> device -> data storage
I'm getting afraid that your flash memory might have hw issues...Give me the output of the above first... |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
pdf files can be transferred by bluetooth to my N9, and saved from net, txt too... jpgs and gifs can't... strange...
